I could be wrong, but I don't recall the 1977 team having that good of a record. Didn't they lose twice to Newport with Mitch McIntosh and then in the Sweet 16 to Murray? That's all I can come up with from memory, but it seemed like they lost more than just those 3. I could be wrong, though.

You maybe right, I can't recall, but do know that Holmes beat Newport in the regional finals in 77. That Newport team was loaded...McIntosh, Slaughter, Sharp, etc.

Actually, going back to the 97-98 year, only St Henry and NewCath have reached 30 wins in a season.

Highlands was also 27-3 this year.

 

The only other team to come close to 30 wins was CCH in 03-04 when they were 29-4 and went to the state semis.

 

This is wrong. Highlands won 30 games in 98. Nobody in NKY beat them, they went 30 something and four I think.
