Harlan County Coach?

Featured Replies

There has been a lot of talk about the football coach at the new school, but what about the basketball coach? What kind of talent will the new Bears coach have to work with next year?

I think they could struggle for 1 or 2 seasons. Cumberland starts 4 or 5 seniors, and I think (Cawood and Evarts) are below 500.

Cumberland starts 4 seniors, but they have 3 or 4 talented underclassmen that can contribute next year. Cawood also has some pretty good underclassmen, but the best one (Caldwell) is out this year with a knee injury. As for Evarts, maybe you can get one possibly two from there that could contribute next season.

Like wideopen said, it may take them a year or two to really be a force; but there are some really talented kids coming up in the grade schools.

With Bob Howard from Evarts being named as the principal of HCHS... does that mean that the Boys' B-Ball coaching job will in fact go to Mike Jones????

Would he be an assistant principal and coach? What about Cawood and Cumberlands present coaches? Judging by the records, they seem to have had some success.

They aren't going to struggle. My guess is they'll be ranked in the top eight in the region next year. These guys have all started at one time or another for their respective teams:

Josh Caldwell

Kyle Hogue

Tyrek Simmons

Paul David Creech

Brandon McCoun

T.J. Green

Bruce Short

R.J. Fields

Jerry Joseph

Dillon Cain

Mendall Haynes

If Mike Jones is the coach of this team they will be contenders by the end of the year.

Not to mention two talented freshman in Hamlin (Cawood) and Miller (Cumberland).

Ely and Calton are pretty solid, too, and they have a better freshman crew coming next year.

So who are you seeing as the coach next year HDE?

If your first choice is Jones, what after that? Just for arguments sake...

I'll respectfully decline to debate that now.

Ok, leave your opinions out, and just state who viable back up plans may be for them if you dont care.

I'm not sure if there are any backup plans.

I agree! They are pretty confident that Coach Jones will take the job.
