What is up with Paris in the All "A" Classic

Featured Replies

Paris has won two games in the All "A" Classic by scores of 26-23 vs Trimble County, and beat Middlesboro by a score of 33-28. To score only a total of 59 points in two games (but yet they won both of them) makes me just wonder what is going on?

Paris is a defense oriented team. They've only allowed 50 or more ponts three times this season all of which occurred during their 0 - 4 start to the season.

At the all A, their offense has not been able to get on track, but they have forced 57 turnovers. They don't hold the ball or run four corners as asked previously, they just haven't been very god on offense at the all A.

If you look at their schedule, you'll see that they are holding some of the best teams in the state to low point totals.

It may be UGLY, but it's effective.

It's all about surviving and advancing.

And what exactly do you think is going on? A win is a win.. no matter what the score

6 times, they have held teams in the 30's and these two games, make 5 times they have held teams in the 20's.

And that's why they are the #2 defensive team in the state!

Haven't seen them play, haven't read anything on BGP's about them, I was just wondering if they play a slow down game, a four corners style, play great "D" or what?

Not even on the girls side of play do you see scores where at least one team doesn't scores 50 points in a game, much less where both teams haven't scored a combined 50 points in a game and I was just wondering!

BTW, winning by playing good "D" isn't ugly, but to move on and advance farther in a good tournament, you had better to be able to average more than 30 points a game, no matter how good your "D" is...

Thanks for the information "hawgball" and good luck to Paris!

You don't need to score more than 30 points if you are holding your opponent to only 25ppg.

Well good luck holding LCA to under 30 points if you and LCA make it to the All "A" Finals.

Per the KHSAA scoreboard:

Paris has scored 791 points (avg 41.6) while only giving up 705 points (avg 37.1) per game through 19 games. An average difference of 4.5 points per game. If you combine the total points that are scored by Paris and the teams that they have played the combined score is 78.7 points per game.

LCA has scored 1514 points (avg 72.0) while only giving up 1124 points (53.4) per game through 21 games. An average difference of 18.8 points per game. If you combine the total points that are scored by LCA and the teams that they have played the combined score is 125.4 points per game.

The difference between the average that Paris scores and gives up per game is only 6.7 points from what LCA scores a game. If these two team meet in the ALL "A" Classic finals, something got to give! Unless Paris starts to score, or plays a slow down game, they are not going to hold LCA to under 25/30 points a game, so they had better score more than the 30 points per game that they are now averaging in the All "A" Classic.

BTW don't really care who wins as I am not a fan of LCA, but I have seen LCA play and to hold them to under 30 points well.....it isn't going to happen unless Paris sits on the ball!

Again good luck to Paris!

Well oldguy, we're all going to get to see what's up with Paris tomorrow.

They'll face LCA after defeating 20 - 2 Cumberland Co. 53 - 46.

They've now held two consecutive teams with a combined record of 40 - 3 to their lowest point totals of the season. It should be interesting to see if they can keep it up.

Good job Ladyhounds and goodl luck tomorrow.

We all know the old saying: "OFFENSE sales the tickets, but DEFENSE wins the game." never more true then w/Coach Brooks teams!

LCA played really well today, and if the Eagles approach anything like the effort they gave this morning, Paris will not remain within 15. Nothing against the Hounds; just my honest assessment after seeing both teams up close.

Way to go Ladyhounds. You are a true Class A team by having one of the smallest student bodies in this state tournament. And if you wanna score just 30 points a game ... go ahead ... we Paris fans love it!
