10th Region Hall of Fame

Each school is responsible for nominating who they think is worthy as a player, coach, and supporter.

From that, the ballot is sent to the coaches for voting. A player must be in the top 5 of ballots cast and receive a majority of votes. Top 2 coaches and top 2 supporters and receive a majority of votes get in.

Jason Butler from Mason County should be nominated as a contributor for all of his years of broadcasting 10th Region girls basketball.. A lot of times people like this go unnoticed. Mason Co. needs to nominate him as a contributor..

Tom Woofter from Pendleton County was the first person inducted in both HOF's for boys and girls.

I think Brian Flaugher of Augusta I think has been inducted in the boys' HOF since his induction in the girls'.

This is a fact and if you dont believe me, just ask him, he doesnt mind telling you that he is a 10th Region HOFer 2 times.

If I was still in position to nominate, I would nominate guru for this site and the ability for Girls Basketball to be discussed and promoted through it.

I think GURU and BGP would be very deserving.

John High should be added in the next couple of years.

What about joanna bess or mary klee from st. pat?

To be considered for the HOF, several things have to occur:

For players, you have to be out of high school for 5 years. Coaches and supporters have no time limitations.

You have to be nominated by your high school.

You have to receive majority of the votes cast by the members of the 10th Region Coaches Association (which is only the head coaches of each school) and be in the top 5 of those receiving votes for players. Top 2 for coaches and supporters.

If a player that a person feels is deserving is not on the list, than you need to see the varsity coach at your school to see if they have been nominated.

I know for a fact that one of the problems that young coaches have is that they don't know they history of the program before them because some high schools do a very poor job of keeping track and remembering the history of the girls' basketball program.

Simply, they may not know who to nominate.

How about JT Teegarden announcer for the Polar Bears?

I agree on Clark Co. getting on the ball to nominating players for their school.

Montgomery Co. has a few that should be nominated from their past such as:

Jenny Randall

Daphne Scott

Sophia Renfro

Contributor

Billy Whitaker

Raymond Parker

Dan Manley(he is already in on the Boy's side but does all things Mont. Co.)

St. Pat:

Coach

Jerry Ormes

GRC/Harrison Co. Coach Larry Allison

Harrison Co.

Ronnie Herrington

Libby Purcell

Meghan Gray(When eligible)

Brooke Faulkner(when eligible)

Bourbon Co.

Anya Hawkins

Don't know if former schools are eligible but Estill Co. would have a few:

Toni Stevenson

Jessica (I forget her last name right now, it will come to me later)

Paris

Terrence Brooks

When I think about this more I will come up with more but there needs to be someone for each school that can go back and not forget the people in 70's and 80's for their school before just putting in the more recent players!

Give & Go, you must not be old enough. Coach Allison took Deming to the regional championship game before he ever went to Harrison County.

Coach Brooks is a shooin but since he would have to nominate himself, not sure he would do that. But he is deserving.

Couldn't agree more Give & Go 83. Need to honor those "old timers" who got girl's basketball started. Because of them, coaches and players of today have a lot more opportunities.

Jenny Randall was a player back in her day. If I remember correctly didn't she go to the University of South Carolina?

Speaking of fomer teams in the 10th region what about Fleming Co. as well as Estill? Players for Fleming like Drucy Conners, etc.

Yes, Randall played at USC after high school and had a good career there, I think she was at the Montgomery Co. game tonight.

I remember the name from Estill Co. it was Jessica Puckett, she was on those good teams in the late 90's into the new millenium.

Yeah can't forget Fleming or Bath Co. , years gone by.
