Who will be coach at Harlan Co High

Featured Replies

Debbie Green would definitely be the best choice. But, it won't happen. Her husband took over as the Middlesboro girls coach when she stepped down to assistant coach and her son plays for the boys team at Middlesboro. Could you imagine the dinner table with her coaching a district rival? No doubt she is a great coach. In my opinion she is the one that built Middlesboro girls into what they are.

Debbie Green would be an oustanding choice for Harlan County, but don't you think that if she came that her family would come with her? It's not like she would move down here by herself and leave her husband and son at Middlesboro.

My vote goes to Mike Jones. Probably the most successful boy's basketball coach at a Harlan County School, even though it was Harlan Independent.

I second that! :thumb:

I think they should look at two local female coaches from the mountain area. I think first on my list would be Debbie Green from M'boro. She has been a soild girls coach for many years. The second female on my list would be Parsons the current girls coach at Corbin. Parsons has done a good job with the lady Hounds program.

I agree wideopen, Green or Parsons will probably be looked at first! Hey, if they turned down the job, doesn't Euton's mom coach for Rose Hill? That could be a real nice addition to the not only the girls progam but the boys as well. ;)

My post is trying to say her family and the quality of the team her husband is coaching are good reasons to believe they won't leave Middlesboro.

You seem to have it all figured out Youngblood.

Just wishful thinking!

I think Jones is far and away the first choice for Harlan, besides the wishful thinking on Billy Hicks. After that, Whitaker is definitely a thought for them and I believe that is a job he would snatch up if offered since his son Ryan is playing at LMU and his wife/girlfriend is from Bell Co. Rodney Woods might be an outside shot for them, but it is a very outside shot. Don't know what the problem would be with Nolan since he is right there, but maybe they are trying to go completely outside the county.

No way Debbie Green takes the girls job. If she ever wants to come back the Mboro job its hers as well as the fact that she is generally on the bench during the girls games anyway.
