I dont believe that rule was ever passed.

Wow, hold on a minute. I thought private schools were the ones doing the recruiting and getting the "unfair" advantage. I am sure the changing of schools for this young man was based on academics and discipline, which is why most kids choose to go to the privates.

 

And to think Coach Morrow was one of the biggest supporters of private schools getting an "unfair" advantage, he has been doing this for years, guess its only wrong if you get caught. Good thing no other public coaches have taken this path, right?

Team A plays team B.... Team A beats team B pretty handily. After the game, a parent of one of the kids from team A walks up to team B's only double digit scorer on the night and has conversation away from everyone else. They both leave the conversation smiling and with a handshake. Would you consider this a problem???

 

 

Was the parent a booster member, booster official?

This is exactly why we need to kick the public schools out of the KHSAA and eliminate their unfair advantage:laugh:

Parents talk to kids from other teams all the time. A lot of kids grow up playing on the same middle school team or AAU team then go to different high schools, especially in Louisville, and parents get to know the kids well. Unless you know what exactly was said its not a problem. Now if the parent of Team A walks up and says you need to leave that school and come to ours and I can set up a meeting with the coach. Then there is a problem.

At what point has he claimed an "unfair" advantage by private schools? Given his background combined with his willingness to schedule anybody, I'd be surprised if this was really the case.

Very interesting. I am sure a lot of coaches would sit out 4 games for a D-1 sophomore. Recruiting is hard to stop but I am glad to see a penalty enforced. It is hard to come up with the proper punishment for a situation like this. Do you fine the school or coach? Is the suspension the right amount or should it have been longer? Thoughts?

 

Coach! Admin if they knew about it! And the kid!! All should be punished and more severe than what was given in this situation. As I stated in the Public/Private thread regarding this...some of this stuff that has taken place in this particular situation is comical!

That wasn't the case... secret meeting at a public resturant.. coaches from another school spoted the meeting and turned them in to J-town..to either self report themselves or have the other school turn them in.....Not guilty....hardly..self- rightous...you might say that fits....

This is a slap on the hand. To really get schools from doing this start banning teams from post season plan and suspend the coach.

He was one of the coaches in the paper, along with others who said they are bound by district living unlike the private schools. If you have ever talked to Morrow you know real quick that he hates the private schools and that they "can recruit" and he can't.

 

Guess he took matters into his own hands, or his staff did, which are always at all the summer events talking to youngsters about coming to their camps and "checking out their school" before they decide to enroll as freshman.
