Wonder how Lincoln beat Madison Central so bad.

 

Lincoln Co. is very good. McCreary Central just outplayed them last night.

I picked Lincoln Co., even though I don't have a dog in the fight. I guess they are now Co-Favorites to win the 12th.

Have not posted because I have not had time.

 

MCC simply outplayed Lincoln. They were getting to all the loose balls, doing the little things more.

 

I said it before, I will trade this loss for a win in the region. I don't think either team had their "A" game tonight. I know LC didn't. Noah Keeton played one of his worse offensive games of the year and all starters were in serious foul troubel most of the second half.

 

Watts is the real deal. Best player in the region, and aside from Mack from Bryan Station, the best player I have see this year.

 

Looking foward to a potential rematch on a "neutral" court.

No one has posted on the fact that McCreary Central outscored Lincoln by TWENTY TWO at the foul line. I'm not saying they were a victim of home cooking (Because I know Hargis assigns the refs) but my question is why such a difference?

 

I've seen Lincoln many, MANY times. I know that they hold and grab as much as anyone in the region BUT so does Central. Rob's teams usually do a little bit of holding when they jam cutters as well. 22 sounds like a lot but I was not there so I am wanting someone to fill me in!

The update thread showed Lincoln cut the lead to five late. I'm guessing they fouled McCreary several times late, which probably padded those numbers a bit. Remove those foul shots and McCreary shot 10-12 more.

Yes, most of the fouls came at the end whenever Lincoln would foul to make the game longer. I would say the Raiders made 12 or so free-throws in the final couple of minutes.

 

In all honesty, the refs seemed very unbias and fair. They let them play hard and do a lot of holding. They did, however, make several bad calls, but it was on both sides of the ball.

In my opinion the reason for so many fouls on Lincoln, was that was the only way they could stop Watts from scoring, except he made them pay at the foul line.

Agreed as well. Watts made them pay, especially whenever McCreary was shooting free-throws. If they missed, he is so quick into the lane to get the rebound and then is fouled due to frustration on Lincoln County's part.

I don't know much about these two teams, I do know that Lincoln Co. has proven to be a pretty good team, how much of an upset is this??

Well.. I wouldn't really call it an "upset." Lincoln has been hyped all season as the best team in the region and McCreary right behind in second. However, there have been the 'talking heads' that call this a wide-open region and others that say that Lincoln is head and shoulders above the rest. In both the Lit (CJ) and Cantrall (LHL), Lincoln is #1 and McCreary #2 by 8-10 points on their ranking system.

Not much of an upset at all. McCreary was 18-2 and playing at home. They took care of business.

At LC I would call it an upset. Like I said earlier, Watts was impressive, but McCreary did not see LC's best performance. I can't speak for McCreary, looking foward to a rematch.

McCreary had a hard time running most of their plays and didn't get set much on offense. And normally, they guard the three-point line much, much better, which wasn't the case last night. Lincoln players were left wide-open just due to the fact that McCreary players weren't in place -- they did it without screens, plays, or anything, just poor defense on the Raiders part.

 

These teams are interchangable 1-2 teams in the region.

I agree 100%, and feel either team could win a game at Rupp.

McCreary better team last night out hustled Lincoln all night long. First team that has probably done that all year long. McCreary very physical and Lincoln doesn't like physical. Watt best player in region 3pointer at end of 3rd quarter would of made any highlight film probably thes best defensive effort i have seen all year on that play and Watt's still nailed it.

This is Watts year to really make a name for himself. If they can make it to the state tournament, everyone will know about him.
