It is very hard to win a Championship as we all know. I agree that Russell should have a good team this coming season. I would agree that Cordle is the real deal. I hope he works out during the off season to put on some weight.

Loaded on the line might just be a stretch. There are some capable players who can hopefully fill in a spot/niche, but loaded (at least for now) is too much to say.

I think this year will be the last chance the Devils have at making a run for the title for a couple of years. Not very much depth in the upcoming Junior and Sophomore classes. While they have very talented players. There just isn't very many of them. (I mean numbers wise.) Didn't the freshman team only win 1 game? Plus after this year they will have to replace the entire backfield. The quarterback. Majority of the line, as I see mostly seniors winning the open positions, and the entire secondary. So after this yr, they will probably only return 2 linebackers and maybe 1 or 2 lineman. Its gonna be tough to come back from that, I hope they do though. Thats 2 years ahead anyways, I just don't like everyone saying they have no shot this year. I think they will be much better as a TEAM than the 07 team. Since most of these kids played critical roles on that team.

The line? No worries (the running game is there). QB? Well I'm good friends with his father and here are some things he has told me. As a starting QB, his record is 25-4 (given team effort). As a passer over the last 5 years: 70 to 80% every year. As a runner he ran an 11.2 second 100 meter as a freshman on thetrack team. Longest pass recorded through the air: 53 yards. So I'm thinking we have the talent to make it to the carpet. The question is: Will they pull together as a team, or try to be solo performers? Those who've watched the games over the past few years know that when Tyler came out, the offense never missed a beat when AJ was in there.

I agree with what you have stated but I do remember a game where our defense was not playing well and Tyler went in and things changed. AJ needs to step up and be that leader and he may have just done that already. He is an exceptional QB who does throw the ball very well. I do look for Ivan to pass the ball more this year. I base that on AJ's ability as a passer only. I would love to see them get Dillon the ball over the middle at least three to four times a game. About five yards deep after a good run fake. That would give a defense absolute fits.

Belfry, Central, Breathitt, and Paducah Tilghman all probably feel the same way. Something has to give.

The majority of these kids have played together since JFL. They've played on some very good teams . The one thing that makes them special is their hunger. They have been on teams that have done great things and now its their last chance to achive the ultimate goal.

Russell has never had a problem with scoring. Three yards and a cloud of dust is all Ivan ever wanted and the wing T is perfect for that kind of thinking. I believe the offense will not skip a beat. Its the defense and the secondary that might give the devils some trouble at least for the first game or two. Tyler will be missed as a defensive leader. Wonder who will step up and take that task?

Russell can win a Championship if things work out for them. Russell will need several breaks along the way just as they got in the 2005 year. I see Russell winning games but not dominating their apponent in the post season. Let's face it 3-A has some very good football teams out there and each one of those good teams wants to win also.
