Somerset will be very good and Rock. will be good with Perkins on the mound, but PC and Casey are both holding this Dist. back. My vote goes to the 46th and then the 45th.

Maybe the only time in history that Pulaski Baseball has been compared to Casey County. Wow.

 

BTW, the 47th is still one of the 2 toughest districts in the region. Just going by last year in the region tourney, Somerset beat Mercer and West, while Rock slapped the Cooper kid from Boyle around.

I don't think it is fair to compare Pulaski and Casey. Pulaski is just going through a tough patch, they will turn it around when they get a little more talent in there.

 

Also, its a new year. You can't go back and compare last season to this one. Everyone graduates certain players that can make a difference from season to season. Just because your logic worked for last season it wouldn't for the two previous seasons with the region champion coming out of the 45th. Like I stated before the 45th & 47th are pretty evenly matched, maybe its just a personnel bias that I put the 45th ahead of the 47th.

I would probably put the districts in this order 46th (Mercer & West), 45th (Boyle, Danville, & Lincoln), 47th (Somerset & Rock), and 48th (Southwestern & McCreary or Wayne). It may be a push between the 45th and the 47th though. The 47th may have the better team, but the 45th I think has more delth.

I'm not well-informed on the rosters of the 45th, other than knowing that Boyle and Danville lost top-tier pitchers (two in Danville's case). Honestly, I think Lincoln will be stronger than Danville this season.

The region will be played at Boyle. Lincoln should be better than Danville. Lincoln has 7 startes back and Danville only has 3, but what I've been told is Danville has a ton of young talent. We'll have to wait and see.

I know Boyle was slated to host it, but Julian said that they still needed to check to see if the field had been modified to fit the specs. Hadn't heard anything.

Danville did lose a lot of their roster to graduation but Coach Morse will always get the most out of his teams. Danville will always be well coached as long as Morse is there. Boyle Lost Cooper but to the best of my knowledge they return everyone else. Lincoln returns all of its top hitters and pitching from last season. So it will fight amonst three pretty good teams.

 

Hardball, what will Somerset return? If I am not mistaken they graduated the lefty Moody. And will Rock have anyone behind Perkins? Also, Pulaski should have some talent to compete in that district shouldn't they?

Mercer's pitching should be outstanding. They return seniors Matthew Robertson and Ethan Ashford. They also return lefty junior Thad Claunch. In addition they will be adding senior Josh Carey. Carey transfered from Burgin and had to sit last year, he performed well for Burgin his freshman and sophmore years and pitched well over the summer. There are also three younger pitchers that have promise.

 

Mercer will go as far as their defense takes them. They had pitching and hitting last year but gave up way too many unearned runs (3 in the regional championship). If the Titans can limit their errors they will be extremely hard to beat.

Somerset returns almost their entire lineup from last year. Price, Wallen, Cole, Fitzpatrick, Hall, Hughes just to name a few and are looking for a repeat:dancingpa

Yes, Somerset returns nearly their whole squad, minus Molen and Moody. The loss of Moody (shortstop) will hurt them more than some think, but they will be very tough. Rock will always have good arms, and as long as Bussell is there, will be a tough out. People forget that, even though Somerset has advanced to the region championship game the last two years, Rock has won the district both seasons.

 

Pulaski will still be young. Better, but young. If they can get all their freshmen to come out for baseball, they should be pretty good by the end of the season. They can be back to Pulaski's standards by next year.

Looks as if we have the 45th and the 47th covered. What are some of the specifics up in the 46th. Looks like Mercer is in really good shape and West Jessamine should be strong as well. But, what's going on over at East what does Coach Hill have returning over there.

 

What's going on down in the 48th? Who besides Southwestern can threaten to make a run in the region?
