Yes, Ouch. Their loss to Lloyd was much like their loses to Owen and Trimble. I caught their game against Lloyd last night and could see why elder Ponzer was on the bench, but honestly don’t understand why Jones was (or several of the other starters) especially during the last 5mins of the game. The game ran close the entire time, so it was too early and too close to have given up IMO.

Maybe Coach Bennett was trying to send a message to some of the spoiled kids that he has!!! Play basketball and quit being so theatrical all the time. No one wants or cares to see that. One day they will see that if they just play basketball that things will fall into place, just to bad for them when they realize this the season will be done. Then they will have WHAT IF'S!!!!!

Penny - Anderson

Maddox - Gallatin (I think he is only a jr. Will be much better next year

Ponzer - Walton (when he has his head on)

Gamble - Owen

Megley -SK

Thompson - Grant

Jones is a nice player from Walton but he is not a top 10 player. IMO, he's probably not the best player on his team.

Ponzer - Walton Verona

Penny - Anderson County

Maegley - Simon Kenton

Maddox - Gallatin County

Here are a few who would certainly be considered for 10 status. The shooting guard for Owen County might make the list however his name escapes me at this point.

I agree with this list. Cody Minnus would also be on my list. There are some standout players on Oldham County teams, but can't think of names right now. Ponzer from Simon Kenton is a very unselfish and solid player.

Kirt can be somewhat theatrical when drawing the charge fouls, as well as Martin when he's all over the place, or Hoppertin when he takes his frustration out on the seatcushion, but I think the Oscar winner for most theatrical would go to Ponzer. Pretty evident from most the games, and by the number of technicals. And from watching Jones the past 3 years, the kid hardly shows any emotion and is way too quiet. I agree the coach has some spoiled kids, but IMO, the only starter that appears spoiled is the one that as you put it needs to get his head on. Hopefully it's on for Wed night's game. Good Luck WV!

You're really down on the Ponzer kid. See it in this post and several others.

Ponzer from WV brings a fire and sense of toughness to Walton that they would otherwise be lacking. I think if you take him out of the lineup they struggle much more than they have so far this year.

Ponzer from Walton is nowhere near the top ten in the 8th region, period.

Maegley and Slavey as top 10? They are good role players on their team but I don't see how you could consider either top 10. Maegley as the body and at times the skills to do so, but his quickness and toughness keep him off the list.

Maegley averages 16-17 points and 8 rebounds a game. He is definitely top ten. Slavey is top 15.

Ask your boys from Walton if Maegley is any good. He tore them a new one.

With all due respect to the kids from Walton, he should have. He has about 100 pounds on anyone they have and is taller than all. He is good but there is a lot more to being a top 10 player than looking good on paper. I just don't think of him as a top 10 player, I mean if we are going to compare him against other teams then we need to look at other games like Gallatin and such. To me being top 10 means a lot and he just doesn't come to mind when thinking of it. Hopefully he plays like it come region time though.:thumb:

As for Slavey, he is a good shooter but can get lost in the flow at times. If he is hitting though, he can put up some points.

Walton doesn't have anyone to match up with Maegley. We'll give you that. But is he an all around top ten player, no.
