A little of both I think.

Boone county never led in this close game. They were only tied twice. Once when it was 0-0 and the other with 22 seconds left in the game. St. Henry was up for this game and Boone came out very flat. The refs were bad to both sides, its like they would go five minutes all for one team, then five minutes for the other. And, by the way, that kid doing back flips was awsome! Him and the St. Henry cheerleader at the same time was very entertaining.

Most of the student fans need to watch what they are saying. When Ryle beat St Henry there were some not so nice things said by the SH students. The chanting back and fourth is fun but it gets out of hand at times.

Just finished watching this game and I was very impressed with the composure Boone played with to get back into this game. They struggled from the field and the FT line but played very well for a young group of kids getting themselves back into it.

 

As for St. Henry, this team is very much like UC Bearcats right now. Learing with a lot of inexperience. But they have some good talent coming up in the Sophmore and Junior classes. This is much needed win for the Cru and hopefully gives them some confidence they needed to go get the All A regional title this week.

Faust is a very good coach. I don't believe he outcoached his opponent in this game. His players did play great but if Boone hadn't went 12 - 28 from the free throw line, they would have won easily.

IMO, Boone substituted too much and played too many players (11). It can be hard for players to stay in the flow. There were JV players in the game in the 4th quarter. I know Boone is deep, but I think you want your best players on the floor at crunch time. Boone did this last year too.

 

Boone's coach made a mass subsititution because his starters came out flat. I would have ripped the starters but only worked one or two substitutes into the game at a time.

 

Also, Boone stayed in their press too long. St. Henry knew how to break it and ate it up at the beginning of the game to open with a big run. They threw over the press and got multiple run-outs and easy layups, like Highlands did. I think the press is a good weapon for Boone's quick players, but it is overused, and it needs to be mixed up some with other types of presses and defenses. St. Henry must have scored 20 points off the press.

Now St. Henry has momentum going into the All A Classic.
