Both took over as starters in their second season and played every game from that point. Their stats are pretty similar...here are some numbers from these guys from their first 7 seasons as starters... Per season Brady - 328/520, 63%, 3766 yds, 28 TD, 12 Int Favre - 331/536, 61.8%, 3829 yds, 30 TD, 17 Int Best season Brady - 398/578, 68.9%, 4806 yds, 50 TD, 8 Int Favre - 359/570, 63%, 4413 yds, 38 TD, 13 Int Worst season Brady - 264/413, 63.9%, 2843 yds, 18 TD, 12 Int Favre - 318/522, 60.9%, 3303 yds, 19 TD, 24 Int First season as starter Brady - same as worst season Favre - 302/471, 64.1%, 3227 yds, 18 TD, 13 Int The only real big difference is Brady winning percentage is better and more rings... Nice work on those numbers. It certainly puts this debate in perspective.

Most of these QB's who are in the "greatest all time" debate are similar statistically...that's why rings, wins and playoff success is such a big factor for me personally, and I think that's why it's such a big issue for the majority of folks. You can't really gain a big separation with the stats, so you look at their bottom line succes which is W's and Super Bowl rings. Brady was always a little behind in the stats, but his numbers were pretty impressive, IMO, when you look at the supporting cast at WR...I think the season he had with Moss and company negates all of the statistical debate that went against Brady. He proved, this year, that with big time talent around him he can put up numbers that are equal to or superior to anyone who has ever played QB. He's already proven that he can put up good numbers with solid WR's and he's proven he can win no matter what...he's the greatest, IMO. When you put it all together at the QB position, Brady is the guy for me. But, seriously, you can't go wrong with any of them...they're all great and they've all proven it. It's just a matter of opinion I suppose, but I still think Brady has the strongest argument considering his numbers and his bottom line success.

This say it all, we are arguing about pennies. They are both good, but we can not really compare them, until both are done. I will add, that I think the reason Favre has thrown so many INT's is that he is a receivers QB. He throws balls that most QB's would not throw and lets the receivers make plays. Sometimes he looks like a genius, and so times the DB makes a better play then the receiver does. That is why his receivers love him, he gives them every chance to shine. I have watched him a lot and this is my observation. In my opinion, Manning does this as well, Harrison would not have as many catches as he does, if Manning did not let him go and get the ball.
January 19, 200818 yr I think Brett is a bit over-rated. He is not in the top tier, in my opinion, with Montana, Elway, Unitas. He throws too many interceptions. He has also had some really tough loses in his career. The loss to the Broncos in the Superbowl said a lot to me when you consider NO ONE thought the Broncos had the better team going in. He also struggled for years with the Cowboys (who didn't, I guess). I think Farve has had the better career to this point but Brady, barring injury, will put up numbers and be up there with the top-tier QBs when it is all said and done. are you serious? How many super bowls did Elway lose? or AFC playoff games for that matter. Montana I will give you ya, he was pretty good. Unitas was good for his Era. Favre threw a lot of picks because many times he was having to carry a team, provided he did have some stupid moments but for evey one of those picks there is a lot more amazing throws that no one else but Favre can make. The thing you have to remeber about Brett Favre is not only is he a QB, he is a football player. The rest of those boys including Pretty Boy Brady can't say that and to me that is why he is the best QB to ever play the game. Football player first QB second.
January 19, 200818 yr I'm biased, but IMO Brady will go down in history as the greatest to ever play the game, regardless of position.....Favre's numbers are great, but in the NFL your legacy is measured by rings, something Brady will have more of than any other QB most likely. if Rings make the QB then Terry Bradshaw is the best!
