I am very glad to hear that about the game. I just want everyone to get the straight story on the old game and the new ones. :thumb:

No you didn't title it that way, I had to edit it, you had it titled without the Eastern in front of KY and TN.

 

Here is how you had it titled:

 

Border Bowl---TN All Stars 23 KY All Stars 13

But it was billed by the organizers as the Border Bowl so I guess we both could be considered wrong. I was not trying to be misleading, but the uniforms said KENTUCKY, Tennessee and in little writing border bowl. I still think it is splitting hairs.

 

Williamsburg will be the permant home, as far as I know and I think it is great. A group of local folks joined with some folks in TN and put on a great show which helped the kids. NKY certainly has some venues that would work maybe the could get together and put something on like this in Northern KY.

 

I will say this....

 

The kids that represented both states (part of both states) felt like they were representing both states as a whole and they play like it.

This was a great event and was first class. Rumor has it that 10-15 kids recieved offers during the practices and after the game. The Border Bowl can do nothing but grow from here. I have also heard the funding is secured for two more years for sure, and the kids will have no out of pocket expense in the future...props to the people that got this thing off the ground...the future looks bright for the Border Bowl.

I tried to be as factually correct as possible. I used what the TN TV station used which is as follows:

 

Williamsburg, KY -- The University of the Cumberlands welcomed the 1st Inaugural Border Football Game to their field Saturday as the Eastern Kentucky All-Star team and the Eastern Tennessee All-Star team went head to head. With an estimated 5,000 fans, Tennessee took the spotlight, along with the trophy, in the end with a final score of 23-13.

This, and the other thread on it, are very misleading.

 

This game is NOT the replacement for the KY/TN Allstar game. This is a local/regional game.

 

Must beg to differ Guru. The roster turned North quickly after being billed as a local venue to be able to look at Southerna and Southeastern players who normally wouldn't play in an "all star" game. And when I say North, I don't necessarily mean extreme northern Kentucky. But Lexington is not near the Tennessee Border.

Some may look at the roster and decide S.E. Ky was not represented well. Then talk to the their local coaches. I believe S.E. Ky was represented well in number and by play. In the end it is about the players, they were treated great and had a great experience.

What bigger stadium has this game been played at? And don't tell me UK, UofL, or Knoxville.
