Good for you. As far as I am concerned, this is quitting too. Quitting one school to go to another. Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side. Instead of talking about GC have you ever thought about helping in making changes instead of running from them.

Not that I think that it was handled properly but if a coach tells a player to leave practice and the player tells them, "no" and they respond to "get the blank out", I hardly consider that cussing the player out. Again, I'm not condoning what was done but surely we are not up in arms because of that?? I personally know of students saying worse than that to teachers at Greenup who got nothing more than a "write up" if that.

Lol. You can't be serious that this is all about the coach uttering a cuss word at a player. Have you ever listened to the players and the kind of language they use (and really a lot of teens in general use a lot of colorful language).

I'm guess I'm just astounded that a player who is disrespecting the coach is allowed to do so and the school would think the coach is in the wrong for throwing the player off the team and uttering a cuss word. When I was in school the coaches would teach you discipline and respect. You probably would be lucky at most schools if all you got for dissing the coach was a cuss word. Most coaches would come up with creative ways to punish you for such indiscretions, most involving physical activities designed to make you remember the incident so you wouldn't want to do it again. How do you think these young men will make it in their adult life if they disrespect their boss at their job? Wouldn't be pretty, and you don't get a second chance most times. I respect Greenup's coach for trying to teach this young man a lesson in life, something much more valuable than a silly basketball game. That's what most good coaches do.

I wouldn't. For those who quit, they made their choice. They didn't quit on the coach, they quit on their teammates. If they did it once they'll do it again. Cut your losses and move on.

I do not know or have not witnessed Coach Sammons or Coach Logan's coaching so I wouldn't know. As for Coach Hicks: He wasn't shy about using AWFUL language at games in front of the boys and fans, so I can imagine what he did behind closed doors. I remember a games at Russell where he flung a chair at the bleachers and almost hit a girl in the first row then used some choice language to the schools lawyer, JL, after being told to settle down. And that's just one game that I happened to see. I'm not condoning Leach's language, if that even happened to begin with, but anyone is crazy if they think this doesn't happen at almost every school. Like said before, kids hear and USE this language themselves at practices and in their everyday life. I think they can handle it.

IMO Coach Leach would stiil be there if he would have booted ANYONE else off the team other than this kid. If you make this kids family mad at GC then you don't stick around because they don't think they run the school they do run the school. This kids dad almost cost them their district football championship going crazy on a ref during the game and geeting the team in which he had no part off penalized. GC will continue to reap what it sows!!

To my knowledge this is the only child that has ever really particpated in a varsity sport (cheerleading excluded). As for the costing the game and going crazy. If you call putting his hands up in a TD sign, saying he broke the plane and pointing it out then yes that is crazy. If however you had seen it for your own eyes (as I did) then that was basically it and "going crazy on a ref" is way, way off base. As for the penalty, could you please show me a rule that states that a fan can cause a penalty on a team without some form of warning (in football). Basketball, yeah seen it a hundred times but football, never and there was no warning given. If this is going to be the case and if a fan on a given side of a field denotes them being part of the team then I can see plenty of opportunity for Russell fans to go the the Raceland side of the field and yell at the refs inorder to penalize them or vice versa.

There is a core group that runs that school system and this sitution involves some in that group. As long as a kid is a good athlete the GC administration will bend over backwards to take the athletes side. It is not a good lesson to teach. I have never seen another place like it.

You are saddly mistaken. A family source told me that this child's dad did not even go to the school that evening. Back up what you say, I would like to know how they run the school.

I have come to the conclusion there is no hope...Come on lets be serious, how many years are we going to just keep trying to support something that isnt going to change.

 

The only decent thing going in Greenup is the Baseball team and they were lucky to get Logan as their Coach, and that was because Boyd County was too stupid to hire him first. BTW, someone will screw that up before it is over.

I will stick with you on all the other stuff said, because I dont know any different, but DEFINETLY CANNOT agree with the bold line. Trust me I was there. Not bashing anyone, just stating the Facts.

You state in the Rule Book where it is allowed for Parents to be that far down on the sidelines then too.
