Per the All "A" Brackets. Let's discuss teams, match-ups and what it takes to win the 13th Region.

I think that the only way Cumberland don't win it is, if they don't show up.

The top bracket sure is the stronger of the two, to bad it can't be seeded somehow. If Cumberland is one of the top two or three teams in the region IMO they are, they should win this hands down. I wonder how most all these teams would fair in this if they had two great players move in to go along with some really good ones already there? Just a thought.

That would be a good matchup but I don't know how physical LC could get with C'land IMO not very, this would be a home game for LC, but they have a tough first round game with B'ville, LC has more overall talent but alot of teams have a hard time coming out of B'ville with a win. A few years ago before he got sick Coach Bingham had Lynn Camp in the finals of the All-A region vs Jackson Co. they led most of the game I think only to lose at the end. Really didn't understand why a school the size of Jackon Co. is every in the All-A. LC was a pretty good team that year as well as this one.

Cumberland should win it but they have two very good teams in Middlesboro and Pineville to get by first before thinking about making state.

The top half of the bracket has the three best teams in it, a very tough draw for both Pineville and Middlesboro.

Pineville and Middlesboro are very capable of beating Cumberland on a neutral court.

A lot of teams in the region have had 2 or more move in at some time or another.

 

I can't recall two players of their abiltiy (maybe not even one) to move into a 13th region team and have such an impact, maybe there has been I don't know. Nothing wrong with it though, glad for Cumberland, sad for a team like Pineville.

Didn't Central have those two foreign exchange kids a few years back that were pretty OK?

How about Charles Thomas and Todd Cox when they both transferred to Harlan? Do you remember those guys? Mr Basketball (who was from Cumberland) and a 6'8" center who started for a National Championship Georgetown College team. How about Woody Asher to Clay County, Shannon Hoskins to Clay County, Whitaker and Warren from Bell County to Hazard this year!! Billy Hicks actually won his first state championship with his best player and sweet 16 mvp transferring in from Corbin (Rick Jones) and I know there are several more that I have not mentioned that transferred to Clay County and other schools over the last 40 years. Then you have a kid like O.J. Mayo who goes wherever he wants and actually played for 3 different High Schools and never had to sit out an entire year like Wilson of Cumberland did last year.

yeah, stuff like that happens everywhere. North had the foreign exchange thing a couple of years back. Kevin Collins and transferred to play at South and Johan Rivera came from Florida I believe to play at South.

The Fields kid went to South, played at North and then went back to South and won a state title.

That's just a few.

The Bray kid came from South to Lynn Camp. I'm sure they're a whole lot more.

The game that will decide the winner for this bracket will be the 6:00 game on thursday night. I think the semi finals and final is at Cumberland, but dont take my word on it. Does anyone know for sure?
