AA Tournament???

Featured Replies

That's close to the number they've always had. The problem is that enrollments statewide are dropping and several small schools have closed, opening the door for schools that weren't part of the original plans for the All "A" Classic.

My basic point in this thread, though, is that there could be no Class AA Classic, because the majority of those schools are in the All "A" Classic already.

Here are the 2A football schools:

The All "A" Classic schools are marked. The majority are already in the tournament, and I may have missed a couple.

CLASS 2A

District-2-1- Caldwell County, Heath*, Murray*, Reidland*, Trigg County

District-2-2- Fort Campbell*, Hancock County*, Owensboro Catholic*, Todd County Central*

District-2-3- Glasgow*, Green County*, Metcalfe County*, Monroe County*

District-2-4- Bardstown*, Danville*, Fort Knox*, Washington County

District-2-5- Carroll County*, Christian Academy-Louisville, DeSales, Owen County*

District-2-6- Holy Cross (Covington)*, Lloyd Memorial, Newport*, Newport Central Catholic*

District-2-7- Bath County*, Morgan County, Prestonsburg, Shelby Valley

District-2-8- Corbin, Knott County Central*, Leslie County, Middlesboro

I know CAL and SV (and I want to say Trigg Co. as well) have competed in the All A Classic in recent years. Any in this grouping that don't play All A are able to, but have declined to do so.

I also recall 3A football schools such as Webster Co., Russellville, Moore, Jackson Co. and Estill Co. competing in recent years as well.

I don't believe Corbin is eligible, but I should have marked Middlesboro. I'm not sure about the others. I thought Trigg should have been there, but they weren't on the list I looked at from last year.
