Covington Catholic Freshmen Tournament

Featured Replies

Mason County beat Cov. Cath. and Louisville St. X in their pool.

Ryle beat Holmes and Tates Creek in their pool.

Louisville St. X beat Cov. Cath. and Tates Creek beat Holmes in the other games.

Mason County looked good and played well. They are deep and well coached. Numbers 10, 14 and 32 can really play. #10 is their point guard and he really led them today. Ryle plays a tough and physical game. They are strong and play hard.

Is this an invitational?

I love the idea of having a statewide, mid-season freshman tournament.

Madman, did you get to see any of the Ryle games or did you just watch Cov. Cath and Mason?

I watched the Cov. Cath./Mason Co. game and the Ryle/Tates Creek game. I also watched the Mason Co./St. X game.

This is an invitational sponsored by Cov. Cath. They usually invite 5 to 7 teams each year.

Today, Cov Cath beat Tates Creek pretty easily. St. X beat Holmes by 10 or so. Didn't stay for the Championship game between Mason and Ryle.

Mason County defeated Ryle in the finals 47 to 35. Jordan Gilbert led the Royals with 18 followed by Treg Setty with 14. The Royals stand on the season at 10 and 1.

The point guard for Mason is pretty good. If he can develop a mid range jumper, he can be really effective.

Congrats to the young Royals.:thumb:

Wish we could see these two play when Ryle is at full strength.

Who was out for Ryle?

Cov Cath actually beat Louisville St X, not as you stated. That is why Cov Cath played Tates(both won one game on day one), and St X played Holmes the second day (both winless on day one).

My mistake. Thanks for clarifying.
