December 28, 200718 yr Like many others, I would take Mauk in the college system, he is quicker and faster on his feet and he has a stronger arm. He may not have the touch that Woodson has. Mauk's younger brother wil be a freshman in highschool next year and many say he has more talent than Ben........we'll see.
December 28, 200718 yr When it comes to a gametime (no pun) COLLEGE decision...it is Mauk hands down...as far as pro goes, we'll find out. To use a quote from GT..."based on what?" So you put Mauk in UK's offense and he produces more that Woodson? I doubt that. You put Woodson in Mauk's system and he produces more than Mauk? I doubt that. Mauk is good at what he does and Wodson is pretty good in what he does. Two seperate systems. Many love Colt Brennan...you think he puts up the same numbers that Mauk does in UC's system? I don't think so, and Brennan is one of the most prolific passers in NCAA history. You think Brian Brohm puts up the same numbers as Mauk does in UC's system? I don't think so. Does that mean that Mauk is a better college QB than Brennan or Brohm? In college you get all kinds of players who excel at their position based on their offensive system...they turn out to be very good college players...yet it may not translate into financial success at NFL level. I just don't see how one can say Mauk is better than Woodson or vice versa because of the systems they run. They fit the niche of their respective offenses. Both are pretty darn good at what they do, in what they are asked to do.
December 28, 200718 yr Based on you being a homer, or actual facts? Mauk 12 games 60.9 % 3121 yards on 386 attempts 31 TD 9 INT 150.6 passer rating 377 net rushing yards Woodson 12 games 63.0% 3351 yards on 468 attempts 36 TD 10 INT 144.29 rating -167 net rushing yards Numbers are very close, and I think it's safe to say UK has a better supporting cast on offense. Woodson's lack of mobility was a killer as he took sack after sack down the stretch. Give me Mauk at the helm of my NCAA team every time... Lets see Mauk put up those kind of numbers in the SEC. Mauk plays in the Big Easy (East) he has not seen the competition that Woodson has and even if Woodson does have a better supporting cast his supporting cast versus their competition against Mauk's is not even close. Mauk's supporting cast has not played anyone like Flordia, Georgia, LSU, or Tennessee. Woodson is better, plays on a better team, plays in a better confrence, and will be a better pro.
December 28, 200718 yr Author plays in a better confrence, The BCS standings disagree. Plus I seem to recall the Big East going 2-1 against the SEC this season...
December 28, 200718 yr The BCS standings disagree. Plus I seem to recall the Big East going 2-1 against the SEC this season... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/BCSStandings 5 SEC schools & 4 Big East schools. How do they not agree?
December 28, 200718 yr Author http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/BCSStandings 5 SEC schools & 4 Big East schools. How do they not agree? 5 of 12 and 4 of 8. You work out the percentages. And you said UK is a better team than UC. The BCS standings clearly disagree...
December 28, 200718 yr BCS Standings or not... Strength of Schedule clearly indicates who played the tougher schedule. UK played 7 bowl teams and UC played 5... Getting off the subject so to speak...both QB's are very good... Give Mauk credit. He has overcome injuries when many would have stepped down.
December 31, 200718 yr Mauk - 3,121 passing yards - 376 rushing yards - 31 passing TD's - 5 rushing TD's - 9 INT's Cincinnati won 10 games, 9 in the regular season. Mauk had wins against Rutgers, South Florida, Uconn, and Southern Miss. Woodson - 3,351 passing yards - (-167) rushing yards - 36 passing TD's - 3 rushing TD's - 10 INT's. Woodson does play in the SEC so that is a tougher schedule, Woodson had wins against Louisville, Arkansas, LSU, and Vandy. Woodson has the better stats and does play in the better conference, but Mauk didn't have a bad year. You can't go wrong with either guy...
