I heard on the radio that Stephens and Clark combined for 31 points. Stephens also had 14 boards. Cody Curtis had 3 3's and 11 points. The Indians finished 13 of 29 from the foul line (I think I know it was bad). Brandon Rash did a great job on Robbie Stenzel who scored only 2 points combined in quarters 2 and 3 (he finished with 14). PG Blaine Stull even helped out on the boards I remember him getting at least 4.

 

Indians were missing starter Caleb Curtis who has not played yet this season with a broken hand. They also had Josh Clark and Cody Curtis on the bench the entire second quarter with two fouls.

 

Indians never trailed, led by as much as 15 and held on for the win.

 

GRC seemed to be forcing things a bit, especially Miller. Stenzel is obviously a great player he was the only one who had success driving. I heard another freshman got a good deal of playing time for GRC, which one was the freshman?

 

 

Good post, I agree . I thought the officiating was horrible, by far the worst I've seen this year.

Good win for Montgomery, I have to admit I counted them out but it looks as if they are bound and determined to be the ones that are tabbed to knock Mason off in the 10th. Good luck to Coach Griesser and the Indians!!!

MC won the battle of the boards too. The stat sheet I saw was 38-29 in total rebounds.

Very True...they will never beat the Royals shooting like that. Rule of thumb, teams need to shoot 70% or better to be considered a good FT shooting team.

Rogers #44, Pervis #40 and Stenzel #31 are all Freshman.

 

Did Rogers play last season for Fleming Middle School? Remember them having a really good player last year either in 7th or 8th grade

What is the two point guard line up? With Miller and Williams you have two point guards. Very athletic with a lot of hustle, but not a lot of points. Bennett, Hatton and Stenzel all need to get into double figures consitently for the Cards. Bennett and Hatton never seem to be in the game at the same time. Bennett did not play much in the 1st half. I do not think Hatton played at all in the 4th quarter. Stenzel got hammered every time he drove to the basket. Not many fouls (seems to be the norm). The Cards seemed to play with no direction. Especially in the 2nd half. They have a lot of Basketball Talent just need to find the right combination. Maybe stay in the zone? Stevens and Clark I think were the leading scorers. Rogers for the Cards had a Good game and will only get better with work and time.

I agree with GRC4LIFE about the game being ugly but I think what made the game so ugly was the fact the officials made a lot ,and I mean a lot of no calls. I can not understand when a player drives to the basket and gets clobbered it is a no foul and then they will call a touch foul in the center of the floor. I thought they were about as common as I've ever seen. If GRC would have hit ALL their free throws the last quarter they would have won by two, but MC didn't hit theirs very well either. GRC needs wiser guard play. Montgomery Co has a well balanced team with a couple of good shooters.

It doesn't matter who is tabbed to knock off Mason Co, because no one in the 10th is going to do it.

Cory Rogers did play for Simons Middle School last year in Fleming County. He also played for the high school. His family moved over the summer to Wincherster. This is only the second year Cory has played basketball. He is doing a great job for only his second year playing. He will continue to improve and get better every game. A bit of a surprise being that the game was at Clark, but many had said that the Indians were the #2 team in the 10th this year.

 

Shouldn't have been a surprise . Clark lost 90% of its scoring, 90% of its rebounding and 4 starters that could play defense through graduation. Montgomery played Clark close 2 out of the 3 games played last year and had all of their players back this year. How did you come to this conclusion. Clark is playing people who have never played in a varsity game before ,some being Jrs and Srs and some are Frosh. and that means lack of fundamentals and that leads to turnovers: confused:
