December 11, 200718 yr with some coworkers, someone said something inappropriate. Basically something about Mexicans and illegal aliens and what not, you get the drift. Well somehow, not by me, this got back to our supervisor and the person that said it was given a written reprimand. Can they do that? Is that legal? We were out on our lunch break away from our building and off the clock.
December 11, 200718 yr Do you guys get paid for lunch? ... We were out on our lunch break away from our building off the clock.
December 11, 200718 yr My mistake. I missed that part somehow. But anyway, then I do not see how your supervisor can give him a written reprimand when off the clock.
December 11, 200718 yr Author The guy who got written up said that our boss told him lunch is an extension of the workplace? I don't get that at all. I agree with you guys, if it were paid fine, but it's not.

December 11, 200718 yr Doesn't pass the smell test. Unless of course his boss is an illegal alien or Mexican...
December 11, 200718 yr Author Any uniforms involved? A couple people had company shirts on, but no not really. Some shirts and ties, and some sweaters.
December 11, 200718 yr Author Doesn't pass the smell test. Unless of course his boss is an illegal alien or Mexican... Haha, nope.
December 11, 200718 yr Let me just say this. I'm REAL glad that my work didn't know what I was doing while off the clock about 8 years ago...
December 11, 200718 yr A couple people had company shirts on, but no not really. Some shirts and ties, and some sweaters. If you are in some company gear, you are representing the company. If you are eating at a restaurant and the people in that restaurant, know that you work and thus represent the business. Not sure, but just searching for something. I know as a teacher there is a morality or something like that for each and every teacher. If I get too many DUI's, I can lose my teaching certificate. What my driving ability has to do with my teaching ability, not sure, but know that I am expected to be a role model to the kids and can lose my license to teach if I portray a negative role model. Maybe something like this comes into play.
