Rumor I am hearing is Schiano is now the leading candidate. Is this true or just another rumor?

Mark it down! This could possibly be announced as soon as this week or next week...Schiano is a potential candidate for the Michigan job!

After the Miles fiasco and Bill Martin running this search I will not mark anything down. This would be a very good hire if it is the case. The only better option now is Chris Peterson of Boise.

I'd say until Miles actually signs his new contract, he's a candidate at UM.

 

He signed it today. He of course had signed an extention with Okla. St. before bolting to LSU.

UM should definitely talk to the guy.

 

When OSU couldn't seem to beat Michigan 7 years ago, they hired some coach from Youngstown State (lower division) by the name of Jim Tressel. Now that Michigan can't beat OSU, I say go after Kelly (Started out as D II coach). He is the best man for the job.

It seems Kelly rubbed some folks in Ann Arbor the wrong way during his stay in the state...

I was told that his personality is not what they want in AA. His coaching and so forth would be fine...but evidently some things that occurred at Grand Valley State have caused the folks to by pass him.

As of Monday there was a strong faction of former players and so forth that were bombarding Martin to go after Miles again. According to a few of these guys, Miles was still wanting Michigan as of Monday night and all that was needed was another push and making it known that Miles is the guy.

This Shiano thing appears to be real. He is apparently Martins #1 guy at this point. Hearing rumors of a possible meeting between the two in New York. I for one would be glad to see him in AA. I see no reason if the money is right for him to turn the job down other than waiting on Penn St.. As long as it is not Ferentz or any of the coordinators I would be happy.

Thanks, Keep us informed if you hear things, Just heard Martin already had a very good backup if Shiano falls through, not sure who. Got any info? Had also heard Shiano has been offered and has 24 hrs to reply. Kudos to Martin for getting going.
