Walton was up 12 in the 4th qtr but Grant Co made a nice run to cut it to 3 with under a minute to go. Walton missed several free throws in the last minute of the game. Grant had two opportunities to tie it with a three but couldn't convert. Jones led Walton with 27 pts. Nice district win for Walton.

I think the turnovers could have had something to do with Grant's defense and their ability to deflect and read passes.

Some of them yes, but a good majority were just unforced turnovers. Mike Martin may have had 6-7 turnovers alone.

Turnovers were a big factor. Mike and Ponzer had plenty of turnovers. They both tried to do to much. Jones is the one that one them this game. He is a flat out pure shooter. Been saying that for 2 years now. He can get it done. The younger classman step'd up alright tonight. The younger Ponzer had a big 3 at the end of the first half to get a lilttle spark going. He impressed me tonight. Walton rebounded the ball solid tonight. Better than against Gallatin, but the TurnOvers is what kept Grant in the game. If Walton would have cut them in half, the game would have been a cake walk for Walton. Walton almost gave Grant a win and almost beat themselves. All in all, Kirk and Jones were the ones who led this Walton team to a win. Show good leadership out on that floor! Good win for W-V though!

I'll give Walton credit, they certainly do play hard but IMO, they've got a few guys that need to stop with all the theatrics everytime the whistle blows. It doesn't accomplish anything and it looks bad on them as well as the team. This could probably be said about a lot of different teams, but i've noticed it a lot with Walton. Basically, just shut up and play the game!

How does a small school like Walton Verona beat a big school like Grant County? That is ridiculous!

Walton just has good players playing. It doesn't matter how small Walton is. They got a solid coach a very good young program. Good win WV. But I do agree with TIME AND SCORE, some people on the team just needs to let it go, and play ball. And just be quite! Totally agree.

It is really good to have a team where if someone is having an off night, someone else can be relied on to take over. Not sure which guys you are referring to about making the team look bad. Like T & S said. Guys need to quit with all the attitudes (Ponzer, Martin) and play ball. Ponzer can play but it seems that someone has to do something to get him going.

I agree that they did good on Saturday, but Ponzer seems to have some attitude. .IMO. I saw him during the game, yelling at Martin, and Martin just made a mistake, and it isn't like Ponzer didn't have any mistakes. I'm not saying or meaning bad about anyone on the team, becuase they all work GREAT together, it's just the whole team needs to not complain about every call. Just play ball, and go out there and win the games! IMO though!:thumb: But I guess it doesn't matter if they keep winning!! Good win no matter what for Walton! Keep it going boy's.

Agree Jeanie. Good win for the cats. Hopefully they shoot the ball well against Boone on Friday. Kirk did a nice job getting some boards and putting the ball back in against GC. He will have his hands full against BC though.
