Miles staying at LSU?

Featured Replies

Looks like you heard the same info I did. So, if my info was wrong on this one, so was yours.

I've made it clear where my info was from, and how that could easily change if things change at LSU. The people running the search at UM think they have him...

A few thoughts. It was Herbstreit that reported the story, and it's not often he's wrong. My guess is his sources are pretty close to mine, and the powers that be at Michigan thought (and maybe still think) they have him locked up. As the story goes, UM has a deal in place with the agent. Starting to sound similar to Donovan to UK.

One of the things that had many believing that he was gone was that the LSU Chancellor and AD asked him to state at the SEC Championship presser yesterday that he wasn't going to Michigan, and Miles wouldn't do it.

Sure is going to be an interesting week...

I fully expected Miles or the AD to get up and say "we have reached a verbal agreement on a contract extension." I think the fact that no one did speaks volumes as to the lack of resolution in this matter. Definately will be an interesting week.........

I still think he's gone.

But if we heard the same thing and posted about it, don't call me out if you are wrong also.

It was your thread partner...

Is Desmond Howard on the search committee? I have heard he was one of 10 or 12 people involved. If he is I can see where Herbstreit came with the story.

Just givin ya a hard time 98! I think most thought he was/still is gone!

I know it's all good, that PC makes me think he's gone even more.

Certainly didn't do anything to make me think he's staying at LSU...

Ha. Herbie's so far up the Big 10's hind end, he thinks tOSU won the national championship last season.

Seriously ... if Forde had reported that Miles was going to Ann Arbor, I'd have believed it. But Herbie? He's a studio analyst, not a reporter.

Maybe. A couple of scenarios. Maybe the UM comittee really did/still do think that they have Miles locked up. Maybe ESPN severely dropped the ball on this and is backpedaling to cover their tracks.

One thing is certain. The PC was a perfect time to give some finality to the decision before a very large game for LSU. That didn't happen.

Certainly didn't do anything to make me think he's staying at LSU...

According to the LSU release, "Miles will not entertain any offer from the University of Michigan to become the Wolverines head coach or from any other institution."

So why didn't Miles say that? Spin...

Herbie does have some pretty good contacts in the Big 10, you'd agree? So either he got fed a load of bull or one side thinks they have him when they don't. But I'm pretty sure Herbie didn't just make this up........

Maybe, but one thing's clear: He got played.
