I was glad to see Big John Keating (77) playing friday night. I know he is hurting but his presence makes the Breds defense that much stronger. Seems like everybody is healthy. Desales will have their hands full that's for sure. Good Luck to both squads.

I was really thinking the Breds were going to give this game with Prestonsburg away early as with the fumbles. They are going to have to realize that type of sloppy play will not get you to Pappa Johns. DeSales should have been winning the game the whole time instead of fighting until the end. A lot to work on this next week. DeSales has to make their PAT's and the secondary has to not lose their man in coverage. DeSales could have made a statement with this game making the margin much wider.

 

I agree with you on the fumbles. It's difficult to win when they must be overcome. If it makes you feel any better, it sounded like both TO's were of the "forced" variety. Taking care of the ball IS huge.

If your "... lose their man in coverage" was actually taken advantage of last Friday, this game would be occurring much further east (I could count on 1 hand the number of times P-burg threw on 1st down or 2nd and short this year).

 

NewCath, OTOH, will pass on any down and do it with aplomb. The Breds tend to pass to set up the run. If DeSales' DB's don't make plays, this game could get out of hand quickly.

They caught some wide open passes early in the game, but could not continue in the second half. We can not get beat in the backfield, or you are right, it will be a game over very quickly and could get ugly.

I do not think Prestonsburg had that much speed. I think DeSalses has gotten drawn in or were not covering deep. I am by no means capable of analyzing coverage. I just know this has been a weakness all season long in our secondary. I do not feel that it has necessarily been speed that has beat us every time. DeSales has been doing a lot right, and it seems each and every game they do more right. They were underdogs against Prestonsburg and were only picked to win by a one point spread by one sports writer. I feel they won this game in the second half by virtue of confidence. They have pure determination going into ballgames. They really feel as if they can win each game they go into and play hard, disciplined football. I know for a fact they feel as it they can beat NCC this Friday. They know who they are lining up against and what tactics they will use to execute their plays.

Someone posted already. They were to exit Poplar Level passing St. X. Turn left on Eastern PKWY. The stadium will be on Burnett to the right off Eastern PKWY. It is a historic stadium with plenty of seating. The announcing is easily heard and field is in good shape.

Three games this Friday here in Louisville. There should be a nice size crowd to come out and see one of the other Catholic schools play. DeSales and NCC will be a game to see and good exposure for both teams.

DeSales has been able to stop the run as the games have progressed against recent opponents. I think the DeSales kids are well conditioned to play hard for the entire 4 quarters. Unless this team has several capable receivers and a quarterback that can both run and throw. Fairdale was capable of doing this in the second half and scored relentlessly. I think DeSales has since adjusted since, however, when a team mixes it up on a team that lacks speed it makes it hard to come up with a W.

NCC's QB has shown no ability to throw the past 2 weeks. (5 or 6 INT's in 2 weeks, and 4 of them weren't even close)

 

That being said, he is a phenomonal runner!

He is a great thrower as well just a bad couple weeks
