You are correct, the last two weeks the numbers aren't good. But if you look at season stats, they can move the ball by passing if need be.

May not happen. It is that New Cath has been in this situation before and to my knowledge, DeSales hasn't. No disrespect given to the Colts. Just my opinion on the game.

Certainly any number of teams could have scored over 40. Fairdale scored 33 I believe. I just don't see NCC scoring in the 40's, yes, I know they are #1 in 2A and we have not played anyone as well rounded. If the quarterback does better in the passing game than he has in the previous two games it could happen. DeSales can not miss scoring opportunities as in the Prestonsburg game. They are capable of playing better and can not fumble the ball inside the 20 yard line. I do not think NCC will come down I-71 over confident, as no championship team should take an opponent lightly.

So, do any DeSales fans tailgate? the wife and I will most likely be making this trip down.

All the Colts are healthy and most of all Eligible to play. That has not been the case for all of the season. Regardless of outcome, this will be a game to see Friday at Manuel Stadium. Even though it will be overshadowed by St. X and Trinity. A lot of people feel that the 2A championship game has already been played last week. You have to give DeSales credit, they deserve to be where they are in the playoffs.

Did the Prestonsburg receivers have that much speed to be wide open like that. What has Desales done to get this far in the playoffs, they must be doing something right. What do they do well on offense and defense. What do they need to improve on

 

It wasn't "that much speed". Rather, it was DeSales overplaying the run. Receivers were being covered man-to-man most of the night. Prestonsburg, however, couldn't capitalize on that for 2 big reasons:

 

1. A new QB (in week 8, the starter went out with an ACL rupture) being forced to play a passing offense. The DeSales coach knows his business and overplayed the run. Our QB was tentative at times and at other times tried to force play (basic timing problems with the receivers). He has good tools, but very limited varsity experience.

 

2. Dropped passes at critical times (especially one at the 5 min. mark of the 4th thrown to the DeSales 10).

 

DeSales' defensive philosophy was exactly what the situation called for. They forced P-burg to beat the Colts with the pass. The Blackcats couldn't do it.

 

The Colts seem to be a fine fundamental team. They don't miss many tackles on defense and don't leave people unblocked on offense.

 

The best part of the DeSales offense, IMO, is its no-nonsense power running attack. They'll put a HUGE lineman at FB and run straight the tailback straight at you. They pass just enough to keep the opposition from stacking the box.

Besides injuries, did you all have some problems with player "extra-curriculars", or are you referring to transfers recently becoming eligible ?? :confused:
