BYU 78 Louisville 76

The difference?.... BCG was made out to be a savior, and PPat and Legion world-beaters. UK also has Bradley and Crawford, two upperclassmen that always see significant minutes, something UL didnt have last night.

We have 2 seniors, ZERO juniors, a ton of freshman and some sophomores. I know for a fact UK plays a lot younger players and we are going to take A LOT of bumps this year. When you are top 5 in the country and have all this final four talk. You don't lose to teams like BYU and talk about your an inexperienced team...You beat teams like the BYU's and so on...

BYU is not a bad team, they will probably be a tournament team by the end of the year. Its a much more shocking upset that GW beat UK, than it is that BYU beat UofL.

I'm not arguing that is isn't, it's a way bigger upset that UK got beat. All I am saying is that UL SHOULD not lose these kind of games when there is all this talk about about this could possibly be Pitino's best team EVER. (Not from anyone of here, just UL friends of mine.)

BYU is picked to win a strong mid-major conference, and they had at least one future pro on the floor last night and maybe two. Louisville gave this game away in the form of immature play in the backcourt, and a lack of heart when the going got tough. I'm not concerned about this loss, because I think they have the right guy to put the spurs to them in both areas.

And compare this to Garden Ridge? :sssh:

And did Rick's best teams at UK go undefeated? I seem to recall a few times that they stumbled against lesser opponents.

Bottom line, this is a healthy, learnable loss for a young team (Kentucky starts two seniors, Louisville starts zero) restructuring after the unexpected loss of the guy their offense ran through.

Whatever you have to tell yourself to feel better about the fact that your team got ran in its own gym by a low-major, 9-21 Gardner Webb team.

They lost ONE game to a team that went to the final four and then beat them 2 weeks later. :walk:

97 was not Pitino's best season...This was...http://www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/Statistics/1995-96.html

Both teams they lost to that season they came back and beat both...

That's why I said his best teamS.

If Louisville plays BYU later this season, especially after David comes back (at this point, I think he will) then put your house, your mom's house, and the social security fund on the Cards.

From what I saw, this game proved that sometimes heart can't beat efficiency.

Typical kids looking ahead.....goof balls....that will be their Achilles' this year. They may only beat themselves in March.
