Another dumb move

IMVHO, those who harbor opinions that the debate between public and private schools isn't about championships have not been paying attention to the rhetoric...or the reasons given on every level of this debate in any forum at any place, anytime.

Let's be clear: it is all about championships. If there were no championships, the debate would not exist. :argue:

I applaud this forum, and those who post, for getting views on the table in - for the most part - an amicable, sensible way.

But it is about just winning, baby.

This is easy for Central KY ADs to do b/c of the limited number of private schools in Central KY. The Lexington schools have already blackballed LexCath and LCA can't be too far behind.

Imagine what would happen if LC and LCA win football championships this year. I'm sure the 11th Region AD's are going to not schedule LC in any regular season games next year(unless in district).

LCA proves why I think Calvary Christian is a sleeping giant in NKY. If the non-Catholic Christians decide to go the private school route en masse like the Catholics have, CC could become a powerhouse overnight.

Exactly! Many that go to private schools that want to play sports are sick and tired of the notion of boycotts of other schools they feel that recruit or that they compete with. As these other private schools start to become powerhouses, they will also be boycotted. So when the big games and the best contests start to be between LC and LCA, or LCA and Calvary Christian, ect., You may start to see the birth of a new Trinity-St. X model here in Central KY.(Don't jump on me too quick X/T fans- Lex. Cath. and LCA have only been playing football a combined 23 years.) LCA has now gotten to the point in thier football program (Semi-State) in half the time that it took Lexington Catholic to get there. Watch out those of you in favor of a boycott...

That is in the eye of the beholder.

I wouldn't trade any state football championship game for watching either of my children having the opportunity to go out and compete against opponents that they have a fair chance to compete against.

That is a much better contest than any big game or best contest anywhere in the state.

I'd move to have my AD fired if they pulled a stunt like this. Lord I'm glad my kids are out of high school.

In your AD's defense, a lot of times it's coming from a higher authority. Pretty much the people that don't have a clue about athletics...:D

Guess I better talk to the AD before I move to have him fired. :sssh:

Word is the AD's are being told by the Board of Education and Supers.

Who do your kids not have a fair chance against?

I have clearly stated my opinion in many threads in this forum.

Heck, I even started my own thread in this forum on what I feel should be the solution to this problem. And it is more of a closed/open enrollment split with a size twist thrown in.

You have 21,000 posts, I have not read all that many.

I do know you have ties to Pendleton County. What private school does Pendleton county compete with?

Justletmeplay touched on some of the topics I believe are important. I want to ask the same question with a slightly different twist.

What is the goal of cutting the privates out? Do the AD's intent to starve their neighbors? Will the privates shrivel up and die on the vine? If LEX Cath has been blackballed has their skill levels diminished in any sport? Are they still competitive, will they be after 5 years, 10 years?

JLMP said it pretty well - in his name and in his post - just let them play.

All of these high school players will soon be in some college playing with / against all of these same kids, or back to playing sandlot - not many caring where their teammate or opponent went to school.

Life just isn't fair and the playing field will never be level. In this way sports does mirror life. A good lesson to help them all live just as long and be just as happy.......

Amen!!!!

Someone said it best earlier, "it's all about winning". This certainly appears to be the case.
