Nelson County 34 Greenwood 28 · 2OT (6A)

Final in double OT.

Wow! Wish I'd have gone to Bowling Green!

Should be a good game next week at Meade Co.

Meade County's been smokin' hot, and had its way with Nelson County first time through. But it was one of those games where everything that could possibly go wrong for the Cards did, and everything that could go right for the Waves did, and I can't imagine Nelson will play that poorly again.

I think devastating does not fully encompass this loss for Greenwood. Coming into this year they had high hopes to bring home their first playoff victory, and it reached a fever pitch after they defeated Meade and North Hardin in their first two district games. Since their first loss to Nelson County the season has tailspinned on them, and it comes to a sad close for the Gators with this loss.

Nevertheless, it was Greenwood's finest postseason showing ever, and was a far sight better than their sorry regular season performance against Nelson Co. I'm not a big Greenwood fan by any means, but I really think that, if this is handled right, it could be the springboard that this program needs.:thumb:

Nelson Co. had 2 maybe 3 fumbles tonight that where close to the redzone if not in the redzone. They played their hearts out, and in the end they came out victorious..

At the end of the game in 2OT Greenwood called a fake field goal instead of kicking the ball. One has to ask: Was he trying to look like a hero making that kind of call? Or Did he not have confidence in taking the 3 points, and putting the game into his D's hands?

Not to mention the fake field goal looked like he drew it up in the dirt during the timeout... He tried to pull a LSU with the holder throwing the ball over his head, but the holder just threw it straight to the ground.. Looked as if they had never even practiced the play..

With the Cardinals racking up 453 yards on the ground, probably not.

WOW! I was unaware they had rushed for that many yards!!:scared:

Greenwood ran for 357 yards, so the fake field goal call does indeed look questionable. Although a field goal wouldn't have done them any good, either, so a tough call for the coach, do you try and run it in on 4th and goal from the 3?

Nelson overcame the loss of two-way starter and tailback D'Sean Patterson, starting center Elliot, and starting MLB, Grant Barnett. A lot of freshmen and sophomores stepping up to make plays, which is encouraging for the future.

Devin Boone continues his march as one of the most underrated and unheard of tru power fullbacks in the state. Somewhere, someone needs to recognize this kid for the all-state type of performance he has given for 2 seasons.

Petsy, Keene and Boone each had 100+ on the ground.
