Best Kickers This Season

DMZ76---Obviously, you are familiar with the prokicker.com website where all of this info is accessible. Once there, you will also see that Kaufman is ranked 2nd in the state of Ky, 18th in a 14 state region and 36th nationally

Bell's kicker Merrick is ranked on that site as well, I believe attending same camp as Kaufman. He is third in KY; 19th in 14 state s.e. region; 38th nationally.....this is all in the kicker catagory. Kaufman entered as kicker, I think, but Merrick entered, is my understanding from his dad, as kicker/punter combination since he does both at Bell. Effects scores in some ways. i.e punters have to switch back and forth and do both competitions back-to-back. In the K/P catagory McIntosh of Lex Christ. is 19th and Merrick is 20th nationwide; in the Punter/Kick-off specialist catagory Merrick is 22nd and McIntosh is 23 in nation. Bell should be even tougher next season in special teams with Greer, return man, also a junior.

If you look on their site they will have Junior Ranking.....for 2009 recruiting class. One thing we must remember when comparing all these guys (Ray Guy's)....I believe they all are seniors.....with the exception of Merrick, who is Junior. On the Junior rankings...Merrick is #2 Kicker/Punter; #2 Punter/Kickoff specialist; #4 punter; and #8 kicker in nation.

The Ray Guy camp is a good camp but there are other camps as well across the country that some kids choose to go to. There is the kicking expo in Miami FL. and also the combine series with the finals in California this year that the results are listed on scout.com and rivals.com. So there are several and my son is a Freshman kicker for Owensboro High school where he is #2 on the team in scoring. Perfect on FG missed one XP in a 56-0 win but they do not score 60+ points a game like some of the other teams mentioned so his stats will not be as inflated by the huge blowouts. My son attended the combine series regional this year and will be going to California for the finals of the competition and it is put on by a few former NFL kickers (the finals are for the top 10 in each graduating class). Also the kicking EXPO in Miami in January is also a nice competition. When you get to college as well you will have 3 kicking specialists usually a kickoff kicker a FG kicker and a punter look at Louisville Carmody is the best in the game and he never kicks off just puts it through the uprights. So I just wanted to give the kickers a few extra options rather than Ray Guy's camps because there are several options out there. Good Luck to all in the playoffs and for those kickers interested check out all of your options because these 2 camps as well help promote you to all the colleges if you have the potential and for those of us that do not play for the big majors in KY you have to go to the camps to be seen.

Bell's kicker, Merrick, attended two other camps this summer. He attended the Rob Pelfrey camp in Nashville....Prokicking Services, Inc. one of oldest. He also attended the weeklong development camp of Chris Boniol, former Dallas Cowboy, Eagle, Bear kicker. Chris is the one who trained Merrick at first camp as eighth grader and has continue to mentor him. McNutt attended the same camp in Delaware as Merrick. Merrick won the FG competition for the h.s. division with 10-11 FG's right after participating in the punting competition. He then was put head-to-head with the winner of the college division guys at same camp in sudden death. College kicker finally defeated him after numerous kicks at 53 yards. Merrick recently was invited to participate in the Nike competition in Las Vegas in January '08 by some of the camps that I believe you are talking about. His performance at his camps was cited ...since he did not attend a qualifying camp of theirs. Bobcat fans sure have enjoyed Dudley allowing him to kick away this season. He made a FG last night...and had a 59 yd. attempt that he hit good....blocked by an untouched defender! He eight touchbacks last night out of 11 kickoffs in the first-round playoff game.

That is awesome sounds pretty darn good to me. I am glad there are so many options for kickers now. Used to you were on your own. My son went to kicking.com camp also attended Kohl's kicking in St. Louis and made the finals at the camp against a College Freshman they were kicking accuracy but not distance they kept moving away toward the sidelines and kicking at angles and after about 5 or 6 tries my son hit the goal post and lost. The camps have really been good for him. He also works with Dan Lundy of oneonone kicking (former kicker for the U in Miami) and he also worked with Art Carmody from the University of Louisville. The kicking game sure has advanced in the last few years and I am glad to see that kickers are finally getting talked about some. I wish I could see Bell's kid kick. I just hope when my son is a Senior he will be the one being talked about.

Danville has two Jordon Gay and Chris Oester

When Jordan Kicks off not many get a chance for a Return...:thumb:

KCD kicker Campbell Brewer is a pretty good one. Has eight FGs on the year, which is a lot for high schoolers.

Ryle has a very nice kicker, booted one 45 tonight with plenty of distance. It was into the wind but he hit one from 50yds during halftime with plenty of distance also.

Ryle's kicker Kaufman has also been invited to the Nike competition in Las Vegas this Jan. I do not know if he is attending. I am sure it will a great opportunity for all that do.
