That was what I was hoping.

Assuming that Dunn's is large.

Left fielder Adam Dunn has a $13 million option for next season with a $500,000 buyout that must be exercised by Sunday. Reliever Eddie Guardado has a $3 million option with no buyout and a Friday deadline. First baseman Scott Hatteberg has a $1.85 million option with a $150,000 buyout. Catcher Javier Valentin's option is worth $1.3 million with a $75,000 buyout.

Javier is a great bat off the bench and played fairly well when he got a chance to start last year.

At this point you have to pick up Dunn's option and then either trade him or sign him long term. With Phillips a bigger part of this team, I would rather have him long term than Dunn, but I know that wasn't the point of this poll.

Reds already got Votto and don't know if there is need a need for Hatteberg. I would rather see Votto everyday then do any kind of platoon system. Might as well see if they kid can play everyday. I guess it would be nice to have Hatteberg come off the bench, but I don't know if that's really fair to him.

I know everyday Eddie was a great story to see him come back from the injury, I know he pitched well in spots last year, but you have to get younger in the pen and I don't know if Eddie would even be able to last all of next year.

How do you pass on pitching and keep a 1B that you don't need?

How do you pass on pitching and keep a 1B that you don't need?

This is just a question but can Hattie still play Catcher. I know we don't need one but if he could we could pick up his option and have no need for Valentin (Back-up catcher and good bat off the bench).

Dunn and Valentin, and say goodbye to Guardado and Hatteberg, at least for now. Hatteberg's numbers are strictly a product of the ballpark.

How do you pass on pitching and keep a 1B that you don't need?
Easy, Eddie never did impress me and seems to be less effective, than he was.

The Reds have plenty of pitching abundness....
