Johnson Central 67 Ashland 33

Final. It sounded like an old American Football League game. Has Ashland ever given up that many points in a game before tonight?

Yes, I believe Ashland's worse loss ever was 98-0. I can't remember for sure, but I believe it was to the hands of either Stonewall Jackson or Highlands.

Wow. Was that before or after the Coolidge Administration?;)

That might have been the Roosevelt administration....the first one. :D

Congrats to Johnson Central on the win. A very tough season for the Tomcats, but I'm sure they will bounce back next year. I need some people from Johnson Central to help answer a question. I had a friend from Ashland call me tonight while I was at the Russell-Raceland game. He told me something to the effect of Johnson Central unknowingly using a couple of ineligible players during the year, and that they would probably have to forfeit some games. He also stated that Johnson Central had to win this game tonight to make the playoffs because of the games they would have to forfeit. My friend stated that several people from Ashland heard it on the radio from the Johnson Central radio crew.

He also said that JC's Defense was terrible as well....Kinda funny....I am sure their 3rd String was in at that point.

I have taken up for Ashland all year for their schedule, and really thought they would play with a little heart and play a little better tonight...But for once this year I can officially say this and be happy about saying it....Ashland Is TERRIBLE:thumb::thumb:

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. Ashland's season is over, so the correct thing to say would be

Good win for JC going into a big game @ Belfry.

JC played with alot of starters out tonight as well.

I was surprised that both sides left the varsity players in the entire game.

After reviewing the Class 4-A competition in the area, I fully understand why Ashland is hoping to move down a notch. Nonetheless, Ashland has a proud tradition in football going back many years. That tradition was built by coaches like Jimmy Anderson, Fayne Grone, Rex Miller, Jake Hallum, and Herb Conley. All of these guys welcomed tough competition from all around. They didn't seek to play weaker competition when the going was rough. Consequently, it should be disappointing to all true Ashland fans to hear the present coach using the excuse that the school is just six students over the Class 4-A limit. The tradition was not built on making excuses for poor performance. It doesn't enhance one's perception of the coach.

I know Dicky mentioned it, but I hadn't heard Coach Hart say anything about it. Did he mention that during his post game talk?

If you look here, at the state schools enrollments used for classification...

http://www.khsaa.org/football/realignment/schoolenrollmentandnotesuseforrealignment.pdf

Among 5A teams, Covington Catholic, last year's state champion, is playing up from what should Class 4A. Highlands, this year's all-but-crowned state champion, should be the largest team in Class 3A. And Ashland's average two year boy enrollment is also ten higher than Johnson Central's (JC is the second-smallest school in 5A, disregarding teams playing up out of their rightful classes). Just some additional interesting factoids.

Unfortunately, he did. I think I can safely say that none of the others I mentioned would have done so. Those guys had too much pride in their programs to use such a transparent excuse.
