Can't wait to watch a game in the new gym. From the 3D models I've seen it looks awesome. What is the timeline on the football field Blackbears '08?

Not sure on the fields, they could have a football field by next year but it might be the following. I have heard that superintendent Tim Saylor has stated that he will not just put any field and fieldhouse together. I have heard that he will wait until the money is there to put together one of the nicest facilities in the state of Kentucky.

I have toured the new Harlan County High School and it is about 75 to 80 percent complete. The gym will have seats when it opens. All lower level seats will be chair back seats. It has a walking track around the top of the gym. The gym looks something like Tex Turner Arena at Lincoln Memorial University. I can't waint for the first game for the Harlan County Black Bears.

According to the KSHAA website last years enrollments for last year Cawood's enrollment was 457, Cumberland's was 221, and Evart's was 237. That's adds up to 1,413. That's a big enrollment by any standards.

There's around 1,300 now. It will be closer to 1,200 when the school opens. Some Letcher County students probably won't make the trip, and the numbers have dropped for about 20 years.

I'm sorry. I originally added up the top 3 grades of each school and it is 915. And I said to myself, "Self, that doesn't sound right." So I looked it up again and saw my mistake. The new figures are:

 

Cawood 733

Evarts 345

Cumberland 335

 

Total 1,413
