I didn't see many Cov Cath or Boone regular season games last year, did teams pitch around or walk them for regular league games or just when the playoff started?

Beechwood won't even have 8 seniors on their team. At various thimes last season They started 2 sophomores or 2 freshmen or 2 8th graders. The most that will start for the Tigers is 5 Elliott, Miller, Gohs, Morris, and maybe Williams, Hadden will also pitch that is the whole senior class. This is on the assumption that Bankemper will not be returning.

You are correct .I was not thinking clearly when I posted that .Just thought I would throw the Tigers in there and then screwed it up .Thanks for clearing that up ,xtrabasehit .That is not a bad mix to have around to keep on building a program .

I know Ryle didn't pitch around anyone until the playoffs. As I recall the last game of the season, Ryle played CovCath at Ryle and beat them 7-0.

Maile went 1 for 4 I believe. Don't think they ever gave Farris an intentional walk in the regular season or district game. On second thought they may have his second at bat. Coaching does change in the playoffs. As you recall, Cov Cath gave Murray a free pass with Wags and Sheehe on base.

Unless its a tournament or a game that effects seeding, pitching around a player is disappointing. All the teams make the tourney. Make your pitcher pitch.

I agree and disagree. I agree it would be nice to see the best get their fair share of pitches, but, "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME". Until the hitters prove they can hit behind these two (Which IMO will be rather quickly) these two won't see a pitch with runners on base.

So what exactly did you agree with?

Really?

There's no reason not to pitch to any of these kids during a regular season game...

Several years ago there was another player in the 9th region that received a lot of walks. He could really hit.

If it means walking someone to try and win a high school baseball game, that's the way it is.

I think we can all agree that winning a non-seeding regular season game has zero impact on tournament success. Therefore, it it were me managing a team in such a game, I'd want my pitcher working on his out pitches against the top players in the region so as to make him better. Therefore, no IBBs for me.

I totally agree, it's not like these guys are Albert or Manny. You pitch to them in every instance during the regular season and pitch them smart in the playoffs. For these kids who are going to pitch at the next level how are they going to learn if they don't get a chance to perform. BTW everybody, this is high school ball players we are talking about.

Really?

I said i agree and disagree.

If Cody Elliott can do what he has done the prior two years he should be a very strong candidate for POY. He does it at the plate, on the mound, in the outfield and on the bases.

Agreed. A legit POY candidate.
