October 17, 200719 yr How big of an impact will this have on the Chargers? Chambers gives the Chargers a better weapon than they've had at WR for some time. While I think this move certainly upgrades their offense, I honestly don't think it's going to have a huge impact on bottom line, which is wins and losses. I still don't think this puts the Chargers in a position to beat Indianapolis or New England and I question whether it will bring them any additional W's when it's all said and done. With that considered, I seriously question whether acquiring Chambers was worth a 2nd round draft pick. Of course, I could be wrong.

October 17, 200719 yr Author Remember that Chambers is familiar with Turner's system. I think it's a big upgrade for the Bolts... I don't disagree that it's a big upgrade...I just question how much it helps their bottom line. I don't know that it will bring them any extra W's that they wouldn't have got anyway...and I certainly don't think it puts them ahead of NE or Indy. I guess it boils down to this...regardless of the moves they make, Norv Turner is still their head coach and I can't see them beating Indy or New England when it matters, much less beating them both, which is probably what they'll have to do. With that in perspective, I'm not sure this move was worth a 2nd rounder.
October 17, 200719 yr It just means that Chambers will have a bye week for the second time this year and my fantasy receivers are already terrible.
October 17, 200719 yr With that considered, I seriously question whether acquiring Chambers was worth a 2nd round draft pick. Of course, I could be wrong. It might have been a decent trade for Miami for a 1st round pick, but a 2nd round pick is just stupid, especially if SD gets their act together and moves up in the standings.
October 17, 200719 yr Maybe for a 1st round pick, but a 2nd round pick is just stupid, especially if SD gets their act together and moves up in the standings. Huh???

October 17, 200719 yr The Chargers gave up a 2nd round pick, and if they turn things around it will be a late round slot given away. Doesn't matter the language, it didn't make sense...
October 17, 200719 yr The Chargers gave up a 2nd round pick, and if they turn things around it will be a late round slot given away. Doesn't matter the language, it didn't make sense... So you think it was a good move for Miami?
October 17, 200719 yr So you think it was a good move for Miami? It adds a 1st day pick to what right now is a mess with or without Chambers. Cutting their loses, if you will...
October 17, 200719 yr It adds a 1st day pick to what right now is a mess with or without Chambers. Cutting their loses, if you will... I understand what you're saying, but cutting loose your best receiver? It would have made more sense to trade Booker for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
October 17, 200719 yr I have Chambers and Marty Booker both on my fantasy team.... So other than the second bye week that Scribe mentioned, this move is really going to help my team. It'll help with Chambers because he will have a QB who can throw him the ball, and it will help with Booker because he should be THE guy in Miami now. I'm quite happy with it.* *I know, I should never take 2 WRs from the same team. Boldin got hurt and I was desperate.
October 17, 200719 yr I understand what you're saying, but cutting loose your best receiver? It would have made more sense to trade Booker for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. They would have been lucky to get a 6th round pick out of Booker...

October 17, 200719 yr Author It might have been a decent trade for Miami for a 1st round pick, but a 2nd round pick is just stupid, especially if SD gets their act together and moves up in the standings. I completely disagree...I think the Dolphins got good value out of Chambers...2nd round picks are quite valuable in the NFL. Chambers is a good WR, but he's not elite...the Dolphins need to rebuild and draft picks are the best way to do that. Especially day one picks...and they weren't going to get a 1st rounder for a 29 year old WR who has had one thousand yard season and has been prone to drops and inconsistency during his career. I really think the Dolphins made a good decision...they aren't close to contending and Chris Chambers is far from being a guy who can't be replaced. Plus, it frees up space to get Ted Ginn in the lineup to see what they have and allow him to improve. In the short term, this trade does improve San Diego's team. There is no disputing that. Looking at the big picture, however, they are still the third best team in the AFC in a best case scenario. Norv Turner is still the coach. Before Chambers - They seemed to have turned the corner and were more than likely going to win the west division...especially with the way the Broncos look and the Chiefs just don't have enough talent. The Super Bowl was a longshot considering more than likely they'll have to beat both Indy and NE on the road in successive weeks to get there. After Chambers - What has changed...other than they no longer have a 2nd round draft pick? More than likely, they'll just beat some teams a little worse than they already were going to, Antonio Gates' fantasy owners will be unhappy because Chambers will likely steal some of his chances. In a nutshell, this trade made perfect sense from both sides. I think Miami made a good deal. San Diego got a legit receiving option which they have been sorely lacking, but ultimately, I don't think the end result of their season will be altered in the least.
