Several people have been PMing me for an update on David, so here goes:

He has had some of the staples removed, due to infection concerns, but all seems to be okay there. He also had to have a J-P tube to draw off pockets of fluid from the abdomenal cavity. However, the major concerns with infection seem to be okay at the moment. He is still experiencing some pain and the staples and drainage tube make sleeping uncomfortable, but all in all, he is okay and for that we are thankful. Hopefully, he will be released from the hospital in the next couple of days.

Thank you for your continued prayers and shows of support.

Bird will be released from the hospital today.

That's great news. Thanks for the update.

Things did not go as planned. Bird is still in the hospital as of now and can continue to use your prayers.

David,

We are thinking about you here, from Russell (Home Of The Red Devils) and wishing you a SPEEDY recovery!

Best of Luck to YOU and your team!

Update - Day #15

David remains in the hospital with a tube in his chest to remove fluid from around his lungs. He was hoping that he would be out tomorrow and be able to attend senior night festivities for a few minutes, but that will not be the case. As you can imagine, this is very difficult for him, as he wanted to step on the field with his team one last time. Please keep him in your prayers.

Also, special thanks to of the coaches that have called to wish him well - if I forgot one of you, I apologize - Foley (Frankfort), Browning and Carlton (Gallatin), Fromeyer (Eminence), Peach (Anderson), Bowlin (East Jessamine), and of course all of the rest of you that sent well-wishes on here.

David is an excellent player with a God given talent for football. There is no doubt in my mind that he will go on to the next level! He is of course in my thoughts and prayers! Its Terrible news that he will not be attending his senior night, his presence will be greatly missed!

Get well soon David!!!

David was released on Friday and made it to the game about 10 minutes before senior night festivities started. His presences was a wonderful addition and particularly made a big difference to all of his fellow seniors. He watched about three plays and then went home to rest.

As of today, he is doing well, able to get up and move around a lot and is eating well. He should be able to regain the weight he lost and is well on the road to recovery. Barring any further complications, this will be the last post that I make in this thread. If any of you would like an update at any further time, please PM me.

God bless those of you that thought of this kid in his time of need.

So glad he is much better and could attend the game if only for a few minutes. Prayers and angels are still being sent from here in Clark Co.
