Here is my question concerning this game. Why is Whitley playing a single A school in Lynn Camp and not the bigger school just down the road in Corbin?

Here is my question concerning this game. Why is Whitley playing a single A school in Lynn Camp and not the bigger school just down the road in Corbin?

 

I've heard 5,000 different reasons for why Whitley and Corbin don't play but as for why Whitley plays lynn camp, they have played them every year for as far back as I can remember and it is really the only continuous rivalry of local schools not in the same classification in football that is played every year.

Corbin tends to not play lynn camp, not really sure why.

Lynn Camp has to schedule more than one big school, since the reclassification took some of the teams out of their district.

Coach Mitchell also live by the motto that tough non district games will get his teams ready for the playoffs, which is great until the kids start getting banged up from playing 5A schools.

Whitley and LC have played since Whitley became a school. One of the longest continuous rivalry games in the state.

I was surprised to see this game moved so far back in the season. It was origianlly early, moved later after some schedules had been printed.

If nothing else, it's a GREAT gate for both teams, and until recently was always close for the most part. There have been some real battles in this one. Usually not a hate fest between the two like some other rivalry games.

I agree When Coach Campbell was there his teams won almost all of the time, but IMO he and his players respected LC and the way they played, I guess the current staff does as well. Whitley beat alot of teams a lot of times during Campbell's tenure, a very good coach.

I would guarantee Coach Black teaches the WC kids to respect Lynn Camp, Black had a lot of first hand experience against them at Williamsburg before he came to Whitley County and then has even more experience against them going back to when he was an assistant at Whitley.. And Campbell was a good coach when he had the players to match his system his inability to successfully change the offense when the personnel he had available changed was ultimately what lead to his downfall.
