This is definitely an issue that needs to be decided by the U. S. Supreme Court! Case in point...what would have happened if another storm had come up after Trinity scored this year after eating up most of the 1st Qtr? Would the BEST TEAM have won...I don't think so! :lol:

The only thing the rain in 2006 changed was it protected St X from a whipping of historic proportions. Get over it.

Not to rekindle the discussion that you and I and other St. X and Trinity supporters had on a different thread, and speaking for myself and not necessarily others, I acknowledge that KHSAA rules and regulations declare Trinity the winner of the game. It would be my assumption that the site (I concur with you that it is awesome and accurate and I also appreciate the time and effort that went into creating it) would declare Trinity the winner of the game, pursuant to the KHSAA rules and regulations. That site was not a party to the agreement made between the representatives of the two schools. The point I made in the earlier post, and reiterate here, is that representatives of the two schools looked one another in the eye and shook on an agreement that the game would be considered a "no contest". Therefore, if those representatives and those schools are true to their word, between those two schools and their representatives, the game is a "no contest." You really did not need to be "somewhat devious" to elicit that admission from many of us. It has been stated on this board before.

Pardon me for deviating from the topic of the thread, but I did want to respond to your statement so there is no misunderstanding, although I confess that sometimes I wonder if the shoe were on the other foot the X partisans would be adopting Trinity's current position, and the Trinity partisans would be adopting X's current position.

I knew about the injuries and suspensions as well...it didn't matter who they put back there--the outcome was going to be a lopsided loss. They didn't have to put a freshman back there. You don't put a little kid on the field to play against and get hit by men. They could have put a jr or sr. running back, wr, te, or an o-lineman at QB(any of those players should have known the offense). You think Trinity would start young Kragthorpe against St.X's varsity if Stein and his two backups (Smyth and Jackson) got hurt? Think again. You'd see one of the Duttons running the offense.

Did you notice Seneca is playing a freshmen QB this year named Jamarcus Smith? Dennis Johnson played as a fourth grader at Harrodsburg (before they changed the rules)Butler's Lucas has played in varsity games earlier this season. Your concern for young Lucas and his Bears is commendable. Of course, Butler's freshmen have played against a few 250 lb players previously in their frosh games. The time Lucas fumbled versus St. X, he was not supposed to run the option and the extended ball was slapped out his hands. He never took a hard hit.

I honestly believe the current staff at Trinity would have said let's get ready for the "next game". Just like this season, the Rivalry game is over and it's time to focus on the playoffs.

I didn't see the hit, I heard he got hit hard after he threw an INT. Again, big difference between a lumbering, baby fat freshman at 2 and 1/2 bells versus a senior at that weight whose been lifting weights for 4 years. You generally get faster and stronger as you progress from a freshman to a senior. Anyone can see the difference in the speed of a freshman game versus that of a varsity game. Dennis Johnson was a freak...and the KHSAA changed its play up rule as a result. Jamarcus Smith, never seen him play, how big is he? How big is Lucas, how much does he weigh? Some freshman are ready for varsity, ie Micahel Bush, but its rare. Just because your program is down, losing players left and right, is not a justification for playing a freshman who is not physically ready. Again, he's a gutsy kid...I just hope he survives this season without a major concussion or other serious injury. Studies have shown that lack of strength in the neck muscles is a factor that contributes to the severity of concussions. Severe concussions make you more susceptible to reoccurring concussions. Multiple concussions lead to your season being over. Every year in the United States 1 or 2 high school players will die from a football related head injury, most of whom had previous concussions. So, it really doesn't matter to me that the Coach thinks its okay or that the kid thinks its okay, or that Butler's numbers are down and young Lucas is the best QB they got. None of that crap matters when it comes to the health and saftey of a kid.

 

PS--It's great that Trinity's QB's haven't been hit hard enough to be knocked out of a game. I genuinely hope your success in this departemnt holds out. You think Butler's O-line will do anywhere near the job of protecting Lucas that Trinity's vaunted O-line has done?

Park, leave it alone. Don't mess with the Rocks/X fans. They get kids from twelve counties to attend their schools and thats OK. They play by the rules and other schools just have to try harder. We understand what you mean and thanks for your imput.

I am an X fan. Not trying to be a wet blanket, I know football is a violent contact sport. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the game and the violence that comes with it. That being said, lot of the enjoyment is lost when your team is pounding on 14 yr. old kids. If I'm coaching Butler and I really and truly HAD to put in a tough yet physically immature and undevolped kid I would forfeit the game. Plain and simple, I don't believe the Butler coach had no choice but to put his son in at QB. I'll leave it alone now.
