2007/2008 Silver Grove

Featured Replies

What does Silver Grove need to do to improve in 2007/2008? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Good luck to new Coach Matt Sharp and his staff on the upcoming year. I'm sure they will continue the hard play they showed under Coach B.

Replace possibly the best player in school history...Corey Pelle.

I think Silver Grove has a real chance of making it to the regional this year due to some of the talent they have coming back. Plus, as mentioned before, Brossart and Scott was hit very hard by graduation.

Brossart and scott lost some great players, however sg lost their top three players with one of them being the best to ever where a train uniform. It will be a long year for the trains I'm afraid.

SG does have two starters back and Brossart & Scott have none. I think Brossart & Scott might possibly have a longer year than SG.

I think Brossart and Scott will be fine. Unfortunately the depth at such a small school like Silver Grove go in cycles, and this year could see some of those teams the Big Trains beat last year turn the tables this year.

Brossart & Scott each lost their starting five and it is not like either school has a lot of talent this year. I will be surprised if one of them gets to .500.

I am done discussing Brossart & Scott on Silver Grove's thread.

You're right - this is a Silver Grove thread BUT the statement has been made that Silver Grove might have the upper hand on BBHS and SCOTT and a shot at making the regional tournament this year.

Too bad that timing is everything, because what a great year it would be for the Silver City IF they had the same team back that they fielded last year. They then would have to be considered a legitimate contender for the district crown, play in the Fieldhouse in the regional, and be the odds-on favorite to win the 10th Region "A" and go to EKU.

However that is not the case and it is hardly likely that graduation riddled SG will be able to compete with graduation riddled Brossart or Scott - it's simply apples and oranges.

None of Brossart's returners played meaningful varsity minutes because that team was a "Stand-Alone" senior ball-club - that doesn't make our returnees chopped liver, and I suspect that the same applies to Scott.

Brossart is going to be a VERY GOOD Division III caliber team and will be competitive at the DII level. We won't have to wait long to witness the Brossart - Silver Grove comparison - they open the season at BBHS on November 27th.

I think the Grove will havea tough year and BB as well since they got into this

Yea!! (No disrepect)

That would be a bummer - to finally make it to the regional tournament and get to play in the venerable fieldhouse only to discover that it's at Montgomery County.

I'm sure that the Trains would travel to Timbucktoo just to play in a regional tournament, regardless of where it's held!
