Johnson Central 14 Wheelersburg, OH 3

Featured Replies

OOps I was wrong Wheelersburg has 185 boys and 146 girls in school. That is a total of 331 these numbers come from the OHSAA web site. Yes I thought that the Burg would win. But the funny thing that I dont understand is that Johnson Central can say that it was a test or quality win when they are a much much larger school.

That is probably only grades 10-12, not 9-12.

But still, the size of the school isn't the only factor. Do you predict winners based only on school size?

This is a tradition rich football program with I believe 2 state titles. Those arent easily achieved in Ohio. You think its funny JC, and many other, think this is a quality, then what was your reasoning for picking Burg by a margin of 2 TD's.

I merely thought that JC was overrated just like last year.

How can you consider a trip to the state semi finals in which many people knew that JC had little chance against Cov. Cath overrated?

I will give JC credit they beat a small Ohio school 14-3.

Based on what do you think they were overrated last year?

Get back to discussing the game or this one is done. Take the personal conversation, to the pm's.

Congrats to JC on the great win! It sounds like JC is the leader of eastern KY Class 5A ball.

I am sorry I will stick to the game. JC won and congrats.

Oldballcoach, nice try. My first post on here. I am from Wheelersburg but like to see football as it is played. I watch ironton alot and loved the Ashland and Belfry series. JC is a good football team. Man, they brought alot of kids to the HILL! Thats what they call it at Burg. And if you had to walk up it, you know! So I paid the money and get to travel with the eagles and hope for a state run like last year! Also get to keep an eye on Beechwood (much respect) and Raceland/Russell squads.

As for JC, great job by the offensive line. The option was run very well by the eagles and, as you know, got alot of yards and a few scores. One thing though, Eagles only got 68 yards total offense in the 2nd half and that needs to be worked on.

As for Wburg, the qb was harrassed constantly. He was hurt but only went out for 1 play I believe. I want to comment on the refs for this game. They are not from Burg, and probably like kentucky, they are issued in from many parts. I think this group was from the huntington area. Not sure. But they did a great job. Let the kids play.

Wheelersburg is a small school by JCs standard and it was a triumph for those kids here in the Burg to compete like they did vs JC. Burg only has 35 players on their squad and that is the reason. But that doesnt take away from your effort, 5 ints and no burg running game. Good luck to you all and yes, we get to the playoffs by beating teams for points. We got zilch by losing to JC but we gained a ton of experience playing a team like JC and Grimm is exciting!! I know he acted like he was hit alot but I dont believe it! Good luck to him and all the JC kids the rest of the season!!

Thank You!

Wheelersburg was a really, really good team. Very quick and very, very, very aggressive. Man there were some hits layed in that game. It was an awesome atmosphere for high school football. My hats off to the team, coaching staff and fans. They never gave up and I think a game like that really helps both teams down the road. I look forward to keeping this series going.
