Questions for Those Who Have Quit Smoking

Featured Replies

Been dipping for about gosh 5 years now, never thought I'd do it. As of late though I've been thinking that at some point I would really like to quit. I typically only do it when I drink. and have been drinking alot less. So perhaps that's all part of the process.

Quitting dipping is easy. I quit 6 times yesterday. It's the not starting again that seems to be difficult. Actually, I have went from a can every two days to a can every 10 days. I'm weaning myself after dipping for 27 years. The bottom line is you have to truely want to quit to be successful and even then it's extremely difficult. The cravings drive me crazy. Especially after eating. But I need to quit eating too...Ha Ha

Good luck to all of those trying to quit and hang in there.

That's not very encouraging.

OK, I'm into day five now. Day four was by far the least hard yet but was by no means easy.

To all you non-smokers whining about second hand smoke, stop it. Second hand smoke is great!

I'm still waiting for something good to happen physically. I've noticed no changes in breathing, smell, or taste. I'm sure there are some internal improvements, but nothing I can see or feel.

The "physical" stuff took something like 2-3 months before I started really noticing.

Quit in 1986 , but I did not smoke very much, but I didn't tell anyone.

Have been quit since 2002, just over 5 years. The first 3 months were the hardest. It became progressively easier with time. KEEP UP THE FIGHT! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Working on day 8. Some cravings, not as bad or as long. I really miss the relaxation part of smoking more than anything. I wasn't aware of how I used smoking to reward myself, sort of a prolonged victory cigar.

Anyway, I think I'll make it if nothing drastic happens. I'm not handling adversity, frustration, or anger very well at all right now. It's definitely not a good time to annoy me.
