Eli Manning Cleared to Play this Week

Featured Replies

Seeing as how Lorenzen will have at most, 2 games, that simply ain't happening.

I'm still not convinced he'll get one, just hoping...

Well if your hopes and wishes come true, I hope and wish he throws for 300 and 3 TD's.

And it continues...

Eli Injury Could be Worse

Saw that earlier. Basically says that while it's possible that his injury could keep someone out up to 4 weeks, it is up to the athlete and how much pain they can tolerate.

If he tore ligaments, he wouldn't get the 'ok' to play...

They already said he didn't tear any...

Jared Lorenzen didn't sound like a man who expects to play this Sunday when the Giants host Green Bay in their home opener. Still, the third-year quarterback is working harder than ever to make certain that he'll be ready if he does get the call to step in for an injured Eli Manning.

"If I were a betting man, I'd say he's going to play," Lorenzen said yesterday. "He's a tough guy. He showed a lot of grit out there last week getting in there (after he was injured), throwing 4-for-4 and throwing a touchdown. So if there's any possibility of him playing, he's going to be out there."

Lorenzen betting on Eli

At least we know he's had good coaching in that aspect...

Just heard JLo refer to his receivers as "Plaxmanishock". I like it.

I say Sheli does play this Sunday & the Giants lose by a field goal.

 Sheli, that's cute. Brings back memories of the fifth grade.

Here's a pretty entertaining video called, "Giants Online". They talk a bit about the Eli/Lorenzen story...

Giants Online

Don’t get too excited over this, but Eli Manning threw 14 passes during the portion of practice the media is allowed to see, with presumably more that followed once the notebooks and microphones were chased inside.

He’s still a gametime decision, and nobody really knows how is bruised shoulder is going to react tomorrow. But this would have to be counted as encouraging news for at least a backup role Sunday against the Packers.

Not that he looked entirely great. He did throw a few between 20 and 30 yards, including a 20—yard fade he completed. And four of the remainder went between 10 and 15 yards with some zip on them. But others wobbled.

The encouraging part was that he didn’t crumble to the grass, grasping at his bruised right shoulder and yelling "Make it stop!" after any of the passes. In fact, guard Rich Seubert even gave him a couple of taps on the affected joint while they stood together on the sideline without eliciting even a slight grimace from the quarterback.
