I hadn't seen a thread on this game yet. While I haven't seen either team play yet this year, it would appear to be a good matchup.

North will struggle to score as usual and the Whitley's running game will be clicking with Jones and Co. Whitley will win 21-7.

Whitley should win, but it will take a good effort and they can't' beat themselves.

Well, you guys aren't giving North Laurel's boys much credit for their tenacity and heart as a group of young men. They play their hearts-out, and will continue to do so. At present, they are struggling to find their nitch on the field; and they will soon. You must admit, or I think you would, that North has made some good, even great, plays during series of games. Yes, they perhaps are the underdogs, but remember, when your hungry, that is when you are at your most dangerous, and your opponest is at its most vulnerable.

Let's not count North out just yet; still a great deal of football to be played.

I don't think anyone is questioning the heart or desire to win of North by picking Whitley. Whitley does have a win coming into the game and that is a huge confidence builder for the Colonels.

 

I hate to pick a score since I am so bad at it but Whitley gets to 2-2 after friday night.

I think North will show improvement this week. I will have to be a homer and pick them in a VERY close game. They lost a close one in a monsoon at the Jungle last year and this year I think they win a close one.

WC has played a solid schedule already have seen Bell's bone and M-boro's veer so they are ready for the running game that NL is trying to force on offense. North Laurel has played solid defense against two spread teams like Clay and South Laurel. The question is whose offense will step up? I have no clue what WC doing?(please advise if you know) and North is keeping its best player on the field at QB in the bone handing it off? Maybe gun/run would best suit them. :sssh: my pick WC 21 NL 10

Whitley is running a version of the single wing and the old Notre Dame Box from the 40's. In spite of that I still think they will win.

Whitley's main problem the last several years is they just don't have the size across the line they became use to having in the mid to late 90's even in to the early 2000's. That is what has made the Whitley machine slow down a lot the last several years, an over reliance on the run when the players aren't physically built for it like they have been in the past.

Whitley is actually a big team this year. Their TE is huge!

Whitley' defense is growing better every week and having played Bell and Middlesboro helped them. Newport was a solid team the Colonels showed that they have some grit about them. Whitley O line is big this year but they are very inexperienced, with all Soph's and one Senoir. The will continue to get better as the season go along.

 

Home field advantage will be huge this week.

He is easily 230-240 that is a big HS TE, heck even a good size college one. Mentioning the Soph's on the OL reminds me they are a alot of teams around SE KY now playing Young lineman. I am not sure why? Lack of numbers I suppose.

How do you keep talanted big kids off the field? You don't, you play them and look to the future when they have a year and then two under their belts as a unit.

 

I was just joking about the TE being small, he is getting looks from alot of colleges.
