What kind of multiplier would have put Cov Cath in 4A under the past system? Their population x2 is what I believe was used(as other non-coed schools) and that landed them in 3A.

Assigning a multiplier on private schools' enrollment isn't the same thing as doubling the enrollment of single-sex schools.

 

Example ... Lexington Catholic's enrollment last year was 867. A 1.5 multiplier would have classified LexCath's enrollment at 1300.5 (867 x 1.5).

 

Covington Catholic had 515 boys in four grades. The multiplier would be applied to the 1,030 figure (515 x 2) and give CovCath a classification figure of 1,545 (1,030 x 1.5).

The idea of a bye week as a reward for winning your district sounds good, but remember, home games mean revenue. I suspect that most coaches would take a bye and most ADs would prefer a game against a weak foe.

 

 

When a team is 1-9 and playing a 9-1, who comes to watch? The home team actually losses money after paying the others expenses.

 

4 teams making the playoffs was suppose to give more teams a chance to play in the playoffs. Now, it is a financial burden to these 3/4 place finishers due to having to travel. The only people that go and watch these teams are the kids parents and 1/2 of them won't go to watch them get waxed. Now, the gate is terrible and the home team has to put up money for their expenses. I think the 4 team playoff has backfired in regards to financial committment and now there are even more teams going to be prolonging the season which is already two weeks too long. My vote is to go back to the way things were.

To all you folks who dont like this system. GET OVER IT!!!!!!! All your collective bellyaching isnt going to make it go away. At least give this system a full season. The topic of this thread is kindve silly because we dont what needs to be fixed considering that no team has played the 1st game yet?
