Spencer Greer of Bell Co. and Ryan Young of Lincoln Co. are 2nd or 3rd cousins. I believe that is want Coaches were saying.

These two schools have never met on the football field. They did, however, go to camp together for several years at Feltner 4-H camp but that is irrelevant at this point.

 

Interestingly, Dudley Hilton interviewed for the head coaching job at Lincoln County in 1984, was offered the job and supposedly agreed to come to LC.

 

Apparently, when he returned to Bell High and told them he was leaving, he was persuaded to stay. He backed out on the Patriots and they ended up hiring Larry Phillips who turned out to be a very good fit at Lincoln County.

 

Lincoln County is replacing its Offensive Coordinator, Clay Clevenger, who was hired as head coach at Henderson County. They are also replacing the dynamic running back duo of Trent Calhoun and Braxston Miller, both of whom are now at Western Kentucky University.

 

Even though Ryan Young and Devon Denson have returned to the team, they may not have the required practices in before the game.

 

This will be the 10th Annual Death Valley Bowl. Lincoln County is 3-9 in its own Bowl game.

 

There is no way I can predict a score or a winner. I don't know anything about the Bobcats except that they will be well coached and will have them strapped on tight. Hopefully, the Patriots can pull out a win.

This should be a great way to start the season. Bell only lost six seniors last year. Every skill player returns. QB is in fourth season as varsity starter. Special teams play is exceptional. The Bobcats have a strong defense. The running game is getting fined tuned. Lots of new talent and size join the Bobcats from the sophomore and freshman groups. Several will see a lot of play time. Bell is still a young team with only about six seniors again this year. Last year's team was sophomore driven in many areas.

Couldn't be more true. Green County wore them out.

 

These kids need to realize that last season is ancient history and whatever success they had a year ago means absolutely nothing now.

 

The Patriots have potential but will have pick up the intensity in order to produce wins against a tough schedule.
