Catching very well could be his position in the future. Coastal Caroline Un. is were he is going to school and they want to look at him at third, corner outfield and maybe catching. They defently want him to pitch and that will be hard if he is doing much catching.

Nice come from behind victory for the sixers they showed a little grit, bats were a little flat early may have been due to a fine effort by Oldhams pitcher nice lefty with control. Anybody know his name and where he plays, he is a good one.

Super effort by sixers Justin Blanton 8+ innings on a very warm day, looked like he was throwing just as hard at the end.

The lefty is Jarred Stafford from louisville christian academy. He contacted coach lewis in the winter and inquired about playing this summer for the sixers. with the rules regarding rosters it would not have been possible to take him and still be legal. some say he is moving to morehead next month. if that is the case and if his birthday is appropriate with the rules it would sure be nice to see him play in a sixer uniform next summer. he plays the game hard and with respect. nice to watch play and tuff to play against.

Post 76 tonight dug down deep and after being down 5 - 1 through 3 innings came storming back to defeat host Shelbyville 9 - 5. Murnahan had 2 more big hits and drove in four runs and kory darby had a 2 run double. In the top of the ninth and the scored tied at 5 the sixers had 1 out and runners at 2nd and 3rd. Clark was walked intentionally and Murnahan drilled the first pitch he saw off the fence in left center. The sixers are in the region finals for the 4th year in a row. Fyffe went the distance and was stronger at the end than in the first 4 innings. Branham was on base 4 times and Bowling scored 3 times

Crazy game...but fun to play in. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as exciting.

Post 37 defeated Post 76 last night 8 - 7. Five unearned runs in the first 4 innings and shelbyville had an 8 - 1 lead after 4. Tyler Dehoff came in to pitch and retired 8 of the next 9 and put up zeros the rest of the way. The sixers had the tying run at 3rd and the go ahead winning run at 2nd with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th when Branham sliced a line drive toward left that the third baseman leaped and snagged for the final out. Final game today at 3.

Another doosey in Shelbyville. It was remenissent of an ali - frazier fight. Post 76 came out running and put a 5 spot on the board in the top of the first. Shelbyville came right back in the bottom of the first with 6. It was one big blow aftewr another with these two. Well worth the money to get in. Home runs , doubles off the fence, stolen bases, throwing people out at the plate. You name it we saw it. Even got to listen to several versions of the jeopardy tune being whistled.

Post 76 player Cory Clark had 2 home runs one of which went 400 feet or better. Murnahan also hit one out for 76 and Thomas Wilson of post 37 had his 1st of the season. Ashland Post 76 won 15 - 13 and will play Metcalfe post 65 in the stae tournament. Shelbyville post 37 will play Danville post 46. Clarkson had five hits for 37 and Daniel Pugh , Casey Branham, Kory Darby and Justin Blanton each had 3 a piece for 76. Edwards reached safely four times for 37 and Tingle only reached once. This kid can flat out fly.

Good Luck Siixers In the State Tournament, this is a fun team to watch. They play extremely hard and usually throw a few runs on the board.

Tyler Dehoff (Russell) and Austin Wright (Univ. of Rio Grande) combined to shut down Metcalfe Post 65 on five hits over nine innings. Dehoff went the first 4 1/3 and Wright went the final 4 2/3.

All of the sixers hits came from four people. The rest need to get their bats going again for Paducah.

From what I heard you might be wrong if it's the two players that I think it was, both are very good kids and players. Team concept had nothing to do about them leaving team.

I know most of the players on this team and four of the coaches very well. From speaking with several from Boyd, Ashland, Johnson Co. , and a few others as well as a couple of the coaches, I would be willing to absolutely say that firebird was exactly right on the mark. Call it what you want when it comes to the fireworks displayed that day at the park but the problem was there for weeks and actually just came to a head on that day. After that the team vowed that they had a "new attitude" and it sure showed the rest of the summer. True, they are very good kids and one of the coaches said they helped give him alot of good memories but good kids and team concept does not always go hand in hand. Heres hoping they both have very successful college careers and in life period.

They will do well and be very important team players for their college teams. It sounds personal with some. This isn't the place to air something like this out. I just know both of the players and both are great young men. I too , wish them well in the future and I think they will do great whatever they do.

I am not sure how many but I agree there were several that played at the college & pro level.

I only remember 76 being at it's present site and playing at Central Park. We did play some games at the old Catlettsburg field. I played for 76 from age 16-18 in the 70's.

Bob Ousley my friend and team-mate went on to be a very successful coach at Cook County High School in Georgia. He played his college ball at Pikeville.

Johnny "Peanut" Lemaster, Tommy Deskins, Bill Gulett, Drew Hall, Jaun Thomas are a few from these teams I remember playing at the professional level. I am sure there were many more but with old age I have forgotten a few others:lol:

Here's one you forgot, Joe Magrane, he could pitch a little.
