Age Cut-off for High School

Bylaw 3. Age

Pursuant to KRS 156.070 (2) (e), a student who becomes

nineteen (19) years old before August 1 shall be ineligible

for interscholastic athletic competition. A student who

becomes nineteen (19) on or after August 1 shall remain

eligible for the entire school year. The Board of Control and

the Commissioner may not adopt administrative procedures

that allow for waiver of this rule under any condition.

That's right...I was confused for a bit...Tony Driver graduated in 1997, I in 1995....he is three weeks older than me.

 

You might have been confused with Ohio, in Ohio the age is 20 by August 1.

Ohio has the same rule as KY.

 

I thought Ohio was 20 by Aug 1, maybe it was just rumor, but some kids have transferred from our area to schools in Ohio supposedly because they were going to be to old to play their senior year.

Sorry that I questioned you, you were correct.

 

Ohio

Section 2. Age Limitation

4-2-1 If a student enrolled in high school attains the age of 19 before August 1, the student shall

be ineligible to participate in high school interscholastic athletics for the school year commencing

in that calendar year.

I guess that rules me out of competition. I was just getting into shape too. Thought if I could work out just a few more weeks I would have e'nuf endurance to be able to at least run out and get the T after kick-offs. :D
