July 25, 200719 yr Somehow it is not as good as I thought that it would be BUT...............I still enjoy it. I like any stories like this format on the Yankees and on baseball in general.
August 29, 200719 yr For some of our more 'experienced' posters, did people say, "He went 'yard'," in the 70's?

August 29, 200719 yr I did not miss an episode. I absolutley loved it. The guy playing Thurmon Munson was identical to the real guy.
August 29, 200719 yr I did not miss an episode. I absolutley loved it. The guy playing Thurmon Munson was identical to the real guy. I watched every episode as well, I thought that all of the actors did a fine job in portraying the person...........Stienbrenner, Munson, Martin, Jackson. this was a very good mini series. I really enjoyed it.

August 29, 200719 yr :thumb: For some of our more 'experienced' posters, did people say, "He went 'yard'," in the 70's? Yes that was a common cliché used during my High School years..
August 29, 200719 yr For some of our more 'experienced' posters, did people say, "He went 'yard'," in the 70's? They said it on broadcasts let alone around the neighborhood. Back when you played games in your yard for the neighborhood game, if you hit it OUT of the yard, it was a HR. Thus, "went yard."

Thus, "went yard." We were just talking about how authentic we thought the show was. At least it seemed that way to us. Then we heard, "He's gone yard on every pitch" and we were wondering if that was a term used in the 70's...
