16th Region Players on 2007 KY All-Star Teams(Senior and Junior)

Featured Replies

Congratulations to Tommy Dearfield(East Carter) and Brad Blanton(Boyd Co) for making the 2007 East Ky All-Star Senior Team.

Congratulations to Peyton Martin(Raceland), Tyler Heineman(Greenup Co) and Gatlin Barker(Boyd Co) for making the 2007 East Ky All-Star Junior Team. Anyone notice any connection to these three players and Greg Logan?? Just a little remake of the Greysbranch Yankees....Congratulations to these players and Logan for being a good influence.:thumb:

Thought this might be some good amusing research too on the Past Greysbranch Yankee games from when they went to Cooperstown, NY.

Game 1:

Greysbranch Yankees (KY) 2 Marshall Co Monarchs (WV) 1

Gatlin Barker scored a run; Billy Logan hit a Sac Fly in the 6th w/ bases loaded to score Drew Scaggs for the win. Heineman pitched a CG, with only 2 hits. 6 K's.

Game 2:

Greysbranch Yankees (KY) 21 Greater Glen Burnie Patriots II (MD) 1

Greybranch Yankees- Peyton Martin hit a HR; Wade Griffith hit a GS HR; Excellent hitting & pitching by Yankees.

Game 3:

Mount Prospect Mavericks (IL) 2 Greysbranch Yankees (KY) 9

Yankees: Steve Rister pitched 6 innings and had a 2 run HR.

Cedar Grove Junior Baseball (NJ) 7 Greysbranch Yankees (KY) 13

Yankees- Peyton Martin hit a 1st pitch leadoff HR in the 1st inning.

The other game stats were not listed.

From the Cooperstown website....The Yankees went 6-1. Anyone that knows anything about this tournament knows that is a great accomplishment.

Did i miss something, because i only saw Peyton Martin and Tyler Heineman's name in the daily independent. When was Gatlin Barkers name on the list in the paper,or did they just forget to mention his name.

It's the Daily Independent, you cant go by anything that is stated there. Most of us dont even get that paper anymore, kinda like reading a rock. Here is the link that has the truth.:thumb:

Plus, you were probably looking at the All-Area team in the Paper, because I am sure they didnt spend enough time to look up the Ky State All-Stars. The Ky State All-Stars is just a little bit better than saying you are a Daily Independent All-Star.

Congrats to all the local (16th region) kids that as been chosen for the team.

Barker was a late add-on after voting, and deservingly so. Each year coaches invite players to fill out their rosters after voting is finished. The two nominees voted on for our region was Hieneman and Martin. All three will represent our region very well. I originally thought it was Dearfield and Moore for the seniors, Blanton must have replaced Moore.

Congratulations to all the young men selected. It is a great reward for their dedication and talent.

Yes, Blanton did replace Justin Moore. He was the original selection, but was not available to play in the game due to being out of town with the Hounds, his summer team. I am glad though, that they replaced a Boyd Co kid with another Boyd Co kid.

I have stated very early on this year that I thought that Greg Logan was the best in the area and I still think so, being at a school for 20 + years does not really IMO make you a Hall Of Fame Coach it is what you do with the talent you have. Greg does what it takes to WIN time wise and if needed he will spend his own money to give the boys what they need, and spend as much time as needed, GREAT JOB this year and best of luck.:thumb:

Congrats Tommy and Brad, I know you will repersent the 16th well.

Does anyone know how the 16th region players did in these all-star games?
