As good as LeBron is, his team doesn't hold the same mystique as the Jordan-era Bulls. In short, they suck. They have a plodding center, no second fiddle, a plethora of washed-up spot-up shooters. Aside from LeBron, their most exciting player is a mop-headed Brazilian named Anderson. The Spurs, on the other hand are simply the best team in the League. They are also the most boring. They win, but most people are eager to see more of Eva Longoria on the sidelines. They will win the series in (most likely) 5 games and we will be lucky to see either team break 100 points once. This was most likely the worst post-season is NBA history. The Finals is a mess, and the Eastern Conference gets neither superstar in the draft. I say David Stern is completely white-headed by this time next year. (If I'm David Stern, I fix the playoffs () so that we see a Suns/Bulls tilt. I also fix the draft so that the Celtics get the #1 pick and Chicago gets the #2.) Like I said earlier, LeBron being in the Finals is a good thing, but no one takes the Cavs seriously against the Spurs. Couple that with the fact that no one wants to watch the Spurs and you've got a recipe for a terrible Finals series.

Nobody cares about the NBA because they killed it by pushing individual marketing rather than team marketing. Feel free to blame Michael Jordan for that, because he's the biggest reason today's NBA sucks. Jordan provided great drama, without question. But too many players tried to be "the next Jordan," or were billed as "the next Jordan," without realizing that it was more than just dunks and commercials and atrocious-looking shoes that made him great. Everybody watched Lakers-Celtics back in the day, mostly because there was drama around every corner, and the brand of basketball played was legitimately exciting. Now, the players have awful fundamentals, and there's nothing exciting about watching either a bad three-point heave or an out-of-control drive to the hole. There's not much else that goes on in the NBA than those two scenarios. Or "plays," if you prefer ... Bottom line is I can watch more exciting basketball at the local playground.

June 10, 200719 yr It would still be Wade for RIGHT NOW. Going into this year, I think had a decent lead over Lebron and Melo in who was the best out of that draft class so far. However Lebron is still to inconsistent, while Wade has showed pretty much since his rookie season been there for the big games and done very well. People have been obessesed with that INCREDIBLE performance Lebron had in that game 5 against Detroit. However I think they forget how Wade had took over alot of games already in his playoff career and against Detroit as well and in the Finals. But Lebron definitely has closed that gap but is still behind Wade IMO still right now... Put Shaq on Lebron's team and who do you think has the ring and who doesn't?

Funny that many rip on the NBA for not playing defense and you get two teams that play defense and they are ripped on and the prevailing choice for the finals is the team that doesn't play defense. Bottom line is I can watch more exciting basketball at the local playground. :thumb: I posted awhile back that the NBA needs a great rivalry like the Celtics/Lakers (in my best Patrick Swayze voice, "Don't ever put the Celtics in the backseat.":D ) Except for your last point. I LOVE defense. I love watching a team completely shut down a team/player. I love the strategy and watching individual players sacrifice for the good of the team. You might be able to watch more exciting OFFENSE at the local playground but you will not watch better basketball.
