During an interview on espn, Lebron James was ask about the expected birth of his 2nd child. The reported said, "your 2nd child is due anytime and if your wife goes into labor on the night of the NBA playoff??" Lebron promptly answered "I have already told her that I will not be there, I will be with my team mates at the playoff game, I was there for the 1st child and I am not going to miss the playoffs".

 

Way to step it up for family Lebron , I thought that this guy may be different but I guess he is as self centered as most of the NBA players are.

 

My opinion may be way off other peoples thinking on here, I don't know. I just can't imagine a man choosing not to be there for the birth of his baby no matter what the circumstance was.

If my wife was to go in labor during the finals I would be right there by her side because there is nothing in this world more important to me than my family. I want to be there and see my 2nd child brought into this world and if I miss the playoffs on that night then so be it.

I'm not saying I agree with what he said, as I would most definitely have answered the opposite, but that I can completely understand him doing so. If he answered that he would miss a Finals game, the media would absolutely kill him over it. The way he answered it, the general public is going to criticize him for it. Pick your poison IMO...

I would pick the answer that wouldn't make my family think that I'd rather play basketball then be by my wife's side when our child is being born. It's a no brainer, family comes before basketball and if Lebron can't step up and be honest and be a family man first then he isn't who I thought he was.

I didn't say that I agreed with what he said! I was just saying that is how the media works. For example, when Vince Carter went back to UNC to actually walk through his graduation, he was blasted for missing the game winning shot against New Jersey when he was in Toronto. IMO, Lebron should be right there holding her hand while she is giving birth to his child, whether it is during a game or not! :thumb:
